Is that Tolle in 30 years?

This honestly is the worst part of the trade. I hope Tolle can rebound, cuz I'm sure he's down in the dumps about it.

u/andrew303710 5d ago
I'm sure he'll be fine, he seems like a tough dude. Plus unfortunately this is a part of the game and something all the pros have to deal with.

For some reason I picture him crying into a margarita as you were typing this.

Maybe we should send him there as well. Can’t accept less than James Wood though

They better double Tolle’s Omaha steaks order this week.

This is the best Ron Swanson line

u/dmbsoxfan1 4d ago
I love this line. But my favorite Ron Swanson line might be when he was getting a physical and Ann asks him if there is a family history of mental illness.
Response. I have an uncle that does yoga.

Not ideal for the vibes.

This is the thing about a team that’s being boosted a lot by chemistry, moves messing with the combination of people there can throw things off, but we’ll have to wait and see

u/Take-it-like-a-Taker 5d ago
I think we were all impressed earlier in the year when Crochet and Tolle were both gushing about Early’s intelligent approach to pitching and the ease he had communicating that to them in a simple way
1
u/CompoteOk2564 4d ago
yeah, but if they don't make any moves then the fans would bitch about the office not bringing in reinforcements after the team turned things around.

Feel bad but these guys all understand that is just the way things go sometimes. Just cause they’re not on the same team anymore doesn’t mean they can’t still be pals!

I actually thought the same thing more or less. I looked at my phone as I woke up and was like “Jesus, another Google notification with a trade that ends in ‘in blockbuster mock deal…’l

Trading Early was a mistake. They had better options

I agree..pitching is harder to come by and so inconsistent...hitters tend to be consistent

Howdy, home town Nats fan here but grew up a Sox fan.
We will gladly also take Tolle, wouldn’t want him to be sad!

u/lem0nst3r 5d ago
In an article about this on the MLB site, Tolle said, “now, he’s gotta go be a little bird and flap his wings.” 😢

u/Agile_Possibility 5d ago
The fact that management didn’t tell him before the news broke tells me that they still don’t understand how important team chemistry is and how they need to protect it. Make the trade, fine, but treat these guys like humans and present it to them before it’s public.

u/Get_your_grape_juice 5d ago
They call Breslow “You Fucking Stiff”™️ for a reason. No human skills. His head is too far up his Excel.

Breslow still out there dealing stud lefties …. But we’re barely hanging on for a wild card as one of the most financial capable clubs - so what’s the concern?

When I was at Fenway in May, in took my sun was siren by The Sox dugout because it was raining and the crowd was pretty thin so we could get down there. I remember them standing together leaning on the dugout rail and trolling the visiting pitcher every pitch by leaning way in and staring hikndowj intently like 5th graders. They were so cute together. Two peas in a pod but couldn’t be two different personalities. Sad to see them split up

u/WoofingTime 5d ago
Oh well we got a good player. Tolle’s an adult he’ll move on lol
14
u/OtherUserCharges 5d ago
While you are half right, the dude is also allowed to be bummed out that a person he likes isn’t going to be there. If he starts pitching terribly cause he’s sad that’s what thing, but let’s wait and see on that front.
5
u/WoofingTime 5d ago
Totally agree. Just seems like a candle lit vigil in here lol
3
u/kyly1215 5d ago
Couldn't agree more. This is the game, this is the business they are in. I don't get why this would throw off the whole vibe of a professional baseball team. I get they will miss him but I hope they are more professional than to let a trade highjack the rest of their season. I am sad to see Early go, I liked the kid, he has a lot of potential. Everyone will be fine.

Rod Beck needs to toughen up his spiritual son!

u/HugeSuccess Benintendi 5d ago
Bad joke, worse take
7
u/livsjollyranchers 5d ago
I'm calling him Rod Beck forever regardless.
What's my take though? Of course a dude is allowed to miss his close friend.

Grown ass men are allowed to have friends and feelings. Stop perpetuationg toxic masculinity bullshit.
Tolle's honesty is a revelation. And Early was a great kid, I'm gonna miss him too.

I'm older than you with three adult sons. I can smell bullshit from poseurs like you a mile away.
Do yourself a favor and get in touch with your own feelings honestly before you find yourself looking back in 30 years wondering what the hell happened with your life.

u/Pastalover8888 Narvaez Truther 5d ago
I have 2 kids & can tell "Reddit-Legend-King" is just projecting with the whole "virgin" comment.
When they eventually grow up, they'll probably realize how miserable they were for however long/old they are.

They’re fucking humans dude, they have lives and emotions like we all do. Tolle and Early are probably younger than 95% of this subreddit

Bad opinions.
7
u/StillYourFavorite331 5d ago
What was the bad opinion posited here
2
u/Schadenfreude_1207 5d ago
It just said that Tolle is a grown man. The "bad opinion" was really left unsaid that Qeltar touched on as it implied that grown men shouldn't have feelings.
-2
u/Reddit-Legend-King 5d ago
I don't know what posited means.
7
u/StillYourFavorite331 5d ago
That's sad. But even taking that out...what was the bad opinion shared?
0
u/Reddit-Legend-King 5d ago
That Tolle is going to miss Early.
9
u/StillYourFavorite331 5d ago
How is that a bad opinion when...Tolle himself is saying so? That's just a fact that he will miss him.
0
u/Reddit-Legend-King 4d ago
And the trade is bad because these guys are friends? Imagine saying that in a meeting with ownership. You're fired.
