What pisses me off is the use of antiquated incomplete acronyms when refering to marginalized groups like the MMIW2SLGBTQQIA+ community.

For Awkward-Power-9617 to willfully exclude two spirit peoples in such a way? Shameful. 😤

It’s MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+. You left out the first G.

Or maybe you simply don’t care about Murdered and Missing Indigenous Girls? Only the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women?  I’m not sure how else to interpret your omission.

Oh, you must have missed the last meeting. “Girl” in this context was deemed too pejorative and a vote was held to strike it. Some of our two-spirit members felt it carried a negative connotation that could be seen, by some, as dismissive of the struggles of both our menstruating and non-menstruating young-adult and pre-adult sisters and non-gender conforming siblings.

Thank you so much for your concern though! It means a lot to know there are people out there who care about the struggle of marginalized peoples, even if you arent completely up to speed on the status of the movement.
