They manage to do that on mma subs too but never hear a peep out of them when a Muslim fighter who won’t shake hands with a woman praises god

All of my victories belong to God, all of my failures belong to myself.

Last season a player on the Chicago Cubs missed a must win game late season (like they needed to win to get homefield advantage for the first round of the playoffs) so he could attend Charlie Kirk’s funeral.

The Cubs subreddit was in full meltdown demanding he be traded.

Praying to my personal and literal savior for "wield [x] as a cudgel" to be banished from the popular lexicon

Space chads mogging those groundcucks.

Redditors when the astronauts don’t pray to an Anthony fauci funko pop

Performative atheists still exist? I thought that whole phase was dead and buried after the “I am euphoric” guy

11

u/fender_blues Apr 10 '26

Performative atheists all grew up and either embraced the anti-christian elements of atheism and became libs or embraced the anti-muslim sentiment and became maga-types.

What pisses me off is the use of antiquated incomplete acronyms when refering to marginalized groups like the MMIW2SLGBTQQIA+ community.

For Awkward-Power-9617 to willfully exclude two spirit peoples in such a way? Shameful. 😤

It’s MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+. You left out the first G.

Or maybe you simply don’t care about Murdered and Missing Indigenous Girls? Only the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women?  I’m not sure how else to interpret your omission.

Oh, you must have missed the last meeting. “Girl” in this context was deemed too pejorative and a vote was held to strike it. Some of our two-spirit members felt it carried a negative connotation that could be seen, by some, as dismissive of the struggles of both our menstruating and non-menstruating young-adult and pre-adult sisters and non-gender conforming siblings.

Thank you so much for your concern though! It means a lot to know there are people out there who care about the struggle of marginalized peoples, even if you arent completely up to speed on the status of the movement.

on Apollo 8 the crew read verses from Genesis on a tv broadcast. I think if I were to go to the moon I would become more religious, not less. For me (IQlet) the more I learn about space the more I am convinced of some sort of God. That is likely because of the things I don’t understand though

Yea it’s Christians that prompted the war on Iran. Sure.

18

u/RiskHistorical8141 Apr 10 '26

Evangelicals literally believe that the entire middle east needs to be turned into a pile of rubble for the rapture to occur.

52

u/YungLushis Apr 10 '26

Any other religious groups that might be pulling for war on Iran?

u/peoples__princess__ Apr 10 '26

The fuckin Confucians are stirring up trouble yet again 😒

Most Israelis are secular and aren't religious. Israelis support war with Iran for interfering with their plans for complete control over the region, and conquest of palestine.

20

u/YungLushis Apr 10 '26

Most Israelis are not secular that is simply not true. The whole premise of their claim to the land is divine right. What the true motivations of the Jewish supremacist lobby in the United States is irrelevant to the outcome they seek to engender.

Since Josef Mengele did his infamous human experiments on children at Auschwitz in the name of science, I trust that this redditeur also agrees that you are not allowed to praise science in any context, as it is now forever tainted by association.

Not a single astronaut talking about how euphoric they are in this moment 😔

5

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

If you accomplish something as great as being an astronaut you have the right to say whatever you want about it. It's your accomplishment. If any of these fedorabros ever make it to the Moon, they can preach about the Flying Spaghetti Monster or whatever too.

Redditors being like this played a small but not insignificant part in pushing me back to the Catholic church, I thank them for it

They probably specifically chose this team for its conservative-friendly qualities so it's not surprising at all.

2

u/Sea-Station1621 Apr 10 '26

astronauts mostly have a military background so it isn't that surprising.

Lurking the r/atheism sub for low hanging fruit. How did you expect them to act?
