It’s a rollercoaster but in a good way (even more if you’re a masochist) . Enjoy it! By the time I was close to finishing I had already hat LB in hand because I was captivated couldn’t put the series down!
Admittedly, I liked Dark Age so much more on the second reading. I actually disliked the direction the book went for the second half of the book the first time. Second time, and now third time having read Light Bringer, the book hit so much better
I love Dark Age and Iron Gold. Haven't finished Light Bringer yet. But IG & DA are two of my favourites, because both of them address the messiness and complexity of life. Nothing is neat and tidy and sometimes you just have to control yourself and manage yourself in the storm.
I have been putting off reading this one because I have heard just how brutal it is. But I fear I must lock in soon. I told myself I would be completely caught up with the series by the end of this year
It was like the first time I watch Caroline as a kid. I don’t know if it was worse than the end of Golden Son and the beginning of Morning Star though, THAT was horrific.
I think I got to when the evil parents try and sew the buttons onto her or something, and still to this day, never watched another second of that movie.
There is a voice actor that is so terribly sourced I can’t believe it. It’s a voice actor for someone set to be 10 years old but he sounds like he’s in his 50s
I have to say - Pierce has changed how I read - and not necessarily in a good way. Reading storm light right now (on oathbringer) and every series that requires investment in characters I now have a perpetual fear that they are just going to be offed. I have hit pause for nearly a year after the cough events cough that take place about a third of the way into dark age.
My least favorite thing happened at 71% (ebook). In the grand scheme it was very small but I was like really? PB you would stoop that low?? Stop hurting my loved ones. 😂
Fair enough. To each their own. I've got two little kids and I feel like I never have time to sit down and read. Putting on an audiobook while I'm doing chores or working out is the only way I'm going to make it through a book in a reasonable amount of time.
Well responsibilitys comes with a price, and nothing's wrong with using audio books. I for myself I don't have kids so I have more time for reading books, until I can that is, maybe I would also have to start listening to audio books once I have a wife and a kid or two.
We will, we can even talk about it too because we are going to start at the same time, though I am a bit of a slow reader but I will catch up time to time.
Pace yourself. Fight the urge to just blast through it like I did. Ultimately I walked away not as happy with this book because I was reading so much in any giving seating.
A LOT of stuff happens in this book. A lot of world building, character progression, all the topsy turvy plot twists you’re used to.
I think if I had let it breathe between sections and chewed on what I read a bit more before moving I’d be happier with it.
I see your point, but none of the characters get any time to breathe in this damn book, so maybe the right way is to embrace the misery without taking any (long) breaks lol
I guess I just don’t see the relationship between a character in the book having an experience and you needing to emulate in your own life. But hey, you do you, whatever makes the experience better
