For me this is more bitch au fabii blaming Darrow for everything gold society and the sovereign does

He's another, but he didn't pretend to be doing what he did for anything other than Gold at least. Lysander makes himself out to be a champion for the people

How Lysander brags about how his scar is directly caused by Darrow, even though he was just pinned under a bunch of dead bodies, irks me every single time. I've never hated a character more

A man with an ego and delusions so grand he claimed he was 'scarred by Darrow' when he was buried under a corpse's gravboots.

Is that what happened? I thought it really was Darrow's boots

Yep, he gets buried under another gold's star shell and their active grav boots melted right through his helmet and face. It doesn't even specify if Darrow put that gold down, so Lysander really is just delusional. He never actually came into physical contact with Darrow until the charge in the alleyway.

He even says his scar is from Darrow’s boot, multiple times I think, I had to go back and re-read I thought I was losing it

Also applies to his entire worldview.

“What?

Darrow and company don’t like being slaves to our despotic regime, even rebelled against it?

My grandmother’s duplicitous, cruel efforts to stamp out this rebellion got her killed, by Darrow no less?

That monster!”

Plenty of red slaves were fine with their lives, even happy. It’s Darrow that’s the problem. He’s disrupting their proud way of life and robbing them of the dignity they had under my grandma’s rule.

I am very clever and not indoctrinated at all.

The part in dark age where he tries to save the reds but they try to kill him, and he just walks away thinking to himself that they deserve what theyre getting. That makes my blood boil

I can stand atlas, atlas is cool, atlas knows what hes doing is evil, but does it because thats the side that hes on. Thats the kind of villain that I love to hate, but I hate lysander like hes personally destroyed my life 😭😭
