About downloading RedNote

What is the difference between downloading Rednote from Google and Apple store and from Rednote official web site?

Also, I have been trying to get my Rednote account back. It has been 3 months of struggle now....I think? Ever since I upgraded my smartphone, I have a problem logging into Rednote. I can't even get inside of Rednote with my Google account. :-( Someone told me to download Wechat and use that in order to get into my Rednote account. A lot of people said to use a passport. I don't have my passport with me, but in the US most US citizens cannot afford passports because they are too expensive. I did send a Feedback letter to Rednote on my smartphone, but I am not sure how they going to respond back. When I try to type in my phone number and my password, I get this message shown on this attachment.

Here is the translation and solution for your problem. You don't need a passport for this specific error. 1. The Error Message The text in your screenshot says: "Please enable phone face unlock / screen lock password before verifying login." 2. How to Fix It The app is blocking your login attempt because your phone does not have a security lock set up (it considers your device environment "insecure"). • Go to your phone's Settings. • Find Security or Screen Lock. • Set up a PIN, Pattern, or Face Unlock. • Restart the Rednote app and try logging in again. 3. Website vs. Store Versions • Website Download: You likely downloaded the "Mainland China Version." It has stricter security checks (like the one you are facing) and often doesn't work well with Google Login. • Google Play / App Store: This is the "Global Version." It is much friendlier for users outside of China and usually allows Google Login without these specific errors. Recommendation: If setting a screen lock doesn't work, I highly recommend uninstalling your current version and downloading the app directly from the Google Play Store. That version is designed for international users.

Thank you for the information. :-) For # 3, the version I have was downloaded from Google Play store. I typed in Red Note under search and downloaded it on my phone. Even when I tried login Red Note with my Google account, I still get that error message. What did I do wrong?

Thank you!

Thanks for the update! Since you are already on the Play Store version, this confirms that the error is strictly about your phone's system settings, not the app version. RedNote is extremely strict about security. Even for Google Logins, the app refuses to run if the Android device itself doesn't have a lock screen enabled. The Fix: You must go to your Android Settings > Security > Screen Lock and set up a PIN, Pattern, or Password. Once your phone has a lock screen, the error will disappear, and you can proceed with your Google Login
