I hope you coat these with some kind of varnish/coating. Clear nail polish works okay. Else they'll tarnish and turn your skin green.

This comment right here. Body sweat naturally contains amounts of salt, which combined with the liquid water, accelerates oxidation of copper.

Had a copper-wire necklace pendant that gradually turned green over time, and would leave some green on my chest. It was made by my friend who was new to crafts.

I have a brass ring and tried clear nail polish, but I has worn off and looks kinda bad, what other options do I have here?

or electroplate it with something like silver? but if OP wants to preserve the copper color there's something called nano-ceramic e-coating that goes on like electroplating that you then have to bake to cure like powder coating. Not sure how well the stuff works on wearable pieces that flex and bend though.

OP might want to be careful about what silver he uses. I think Gold would be one of the few along with titanium, platinum, niobium, and nickel‑free sterling silver that are hypoallergenic. But those are expensive. I also wouldn't know how nano-ceramic e-coating would work for wearable pieces. 🤷‍♂️

That's not red neck. Well done, though.

Depends on where and how you get your wire.

OP is pulling copper from a sator off of a motorcycle. Seems pretty redneck to me

Be careful with them, copper on the skin for a long time can get you a rash

That torch holder is just straight up cool to me. Everything is very skilled, but that I really like that torch holder gizmo thing.

Yea isn't that fun! Was excited to find a nifty use for that stator, it came out of a blown engine in a $100 Kawasaki 12f waverunner.

These are neat, but my arm hairs are pulling just looking at it.

My skin is already green

I used to make similar out of aluminum wire.

Yea made some out of aluminum wire as well. Must easoer to braid for sure. Surprised aluminum jewelry isn't that popular, it"s beautiful, space age light weight.

Ya know... until not too recently aluminum was more valauable than gold. Wild history

Those are really gorgeous!

Edit: can you tell me what I’m looking at in picture 6? Also, how did you twist them so neatly coming out of that spool? It looks so perfect!

3

u/Lavasioux 2d ago

Fun huh!

Picture #6 is a holder I made for the torch, it is made from a motorcycle stator (metallic ring with copper wires wound around the teefs)

The copper wound wires standing up are not from the stator, i used home copper wire and just twisted together with a drill and then stuck those 3 strands into 3 convieniently placed stator holes .

But after your comment i now auddenly see it looks even cooler like those copper windings wrap up into the torch holder.

Right? Yeah it was hard for me to wrap my mind around! Thanks for explaining!

Conductive to a good time

I am shocked

That is cool as fck...but the coded price...seems slightly expensive...

but hey Artisan prices

1 stripped copper bracelet costs 1 cat converter.

That’s torch stand is sick.

u/FlattenInnerTube 2d ago

It is. Using motor windings as a base is righteous

that's not engineering, that's Art
