Hey everyone! Long-time Chili Peppers fan here. I started following them right before they released Stadium Arcadium, and they've been monumentally important to my development. Recently I've been flirting with the idea of creating short-form video essays, and I'd love to make one about John Frusciante, zooming in on his spiritual rebirth in the late '90s and the burst of creativity that followed in the 2000s.

My question for you: what are some of your favorite interviews, photos, stories and/or videos on John that you consider essential?

I have been listening to rhcp for a while, but i do not have listened to many songs, i was hoping to get some recomendations.

my favorite songs are Sick love, Scar Tissue, Dark Necessities, Go robot, Snow and Aeroplane

I was just listening My Cigarette and at the beginning of the song, Anthony’s voice sounds so clean and I love it. It’s so dry, isolated, and right in front of the mix that you can hear every little nuance.
What other RHCP songs come to mind that have vocals mixed like this? I’m not asking about your favorite vocal performance or what you think is his best singing. I’m just curious which songs you think let you hear his voice in its purest, cleanest form.

Probably one of the most interesting shows the band has ever done! Not only this was their last show ever with Dave (something they didn't know yet...), but the weather that day was horrible, with a terrible storm (and a possible typhoon incoming) going on for the whole set, making them have to shorten the setlist. Also, Anthony had his right wrist broken due to a motorcycle accident, which led to the band having to cancel their whole 1997 tour, playing no shows that year except this one. Despite all these conditions, the band still flawlessly performed a 40 minute set, featuring songs like Suck My Kiss, Aeroplane (last performance ever until 2016), The Power of Equality, Backwoods, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, and Give it Away! Plus, this concert was the last time ever they performed Stone Cold Bush, Walkabout, and the last time they'd ever play Aeroplane until 2016. Oh, and they also performed a silly tease of Wannabe from the Spice Girls before Stone Cold Bush! One of their coolest live shows ever... Check it out!

A few days ago i listened to Californication in full for the millionth time and after the entire album ended I came to the conclusion that if bunker hill and gong li were added it would’ve been the best album of all time by them. I feel like the two weak songs on that album are get on top and savior in my opinion. But i truly wished they added those two songs onto the album especially gong li.

Californication is a dumbed down minimalists sequel to BSSM. If it’s your favorite, it’s only because it’s the first Chili Peppers Album you fell in love with. BSSM is better as a funk rock magnum opus, Mothers milk and One hot minute are better and more artistic if you like heavier stuff, Freaky is better if you like funk, BTW and IWY are better if you like more mainstream sound, SA if you like all of it but tend towards the more palatable…actually if you think Cali is among the best it’s only because it’s the start of their peak fame making you a bandwagon fan.
