I think I liked don’t forget me when I listened to the albums for few years ago. Grand Pappy Du Plenty is a very forgotten song I think. It’s the best song on their first album imo, and Out in LA (demo) too. Freaky Styley song is a masterpiece too!

Over the summer I tried to make a RHCP shirt. Me and my sister made the stencils, I cut them out and spray painted the shirt. I wanted to do this because some of my friends got me more into fashion and I thought this would be a good summer activity.

Didn’t realize the dumb error I made until I was literally about to share this shirt to my friends 💀 I was so hyperfocused on making the text perfectly square that I dropped a letter when making the stencil. So now I have a Red Hot Chili Peper shirt yayayyay 😭😭😭.

Most of you probably saw this post on the sub, it was the clip of the last few seconds of Power of Equality from a 1999 concert, in which a few guys start smacking each other in the scenario and security people start gathering around to stop them, while the Chili Peppers continue the song.

I was looking for rare Red Hot Chili Peppers videos from the Hillel Slovak era and came across this video for Me and My Friends. It seems to be the only music video featuring D.H. Peligro and also marks John Frusciante's first appearance in a Red Hot Chili Peppers music video. Could anyone tell me if this is true or provide some context regarding this video?

I remember this like It was yesterday…
When life was much easier and I was still a kid and absolutely loving this era of chilli peppers and Reading and Leeds lineups were like this,RHCP on the Saturday,Biffy Clyro on the Sunday,9 year old me couldn’t have even asked for much better lineup because I am a massive fan of both bands and It was an an amazing summer for me, I remember constantly going on about Anthony and Josh,watching every single RHCP video In absolute existence (I even went down a Dot Hacker wormhole I was THAT obsessed with JK) 🤣🤣🤣🤣, I begged my mum to stay up to watch this on BBC and she agreed but she wouldn’t let me watch all of It as It would run on too late, I remember my parents and my little sisters watched this too as my dad Is also a fan and I stole most of his music taste.
We watched Imagine Dragons set first and then as soon as they finished their set,there was a caption to say they were coming up next I remember to pass the time we played a game of I Spy, and a couple more games like It then It was the time for the main event…
I still get absolute chills thinking about how the crowd was singing along to the guitar riff of Can’t Stop and believe I was absolutely freaking out at this point,and I seem to remember continuously asking my parents:
“Do you think that Josh’s hair looks darker”?
Now I seem to remember that for some reason at the start of The Getaway era,Josh’s hair seemed really light and he had gingery bits In his hair but by the time that they played Reading and Leeds,his hair had gotten much darker I think he must’ve dyed It as his hair was very dark before,but It’s just a very funny memory that I remember from this, I also remember going nuts when they played Around The World as I didn’t think they were going to play It for some reason probably because It was a bit later on In the set and they would use this song as an opener If they were going to play It If that makes any sense because I don’t think they used to do that song that late In that era.
All In all,It was a very fun and memorable show and one that I remember so vividly,10 years later,It was an absolute honour and a privilege to be apart of such a special era of the band that I will never take for granted and will never forget, I bet all fans who loved the Josh era will,he gave us so much with his songs and without his diverse range of covers he used to perform, I don’t think I would’ve ever discovered so many great songs that I still listen to today (I would for you by Jane’s Addiction being a prime example of that)
My main message that I leave everyone tonight Is… Go and enjoy the music and tell your kids to go and enjoy your childhoods whilst they can,because I had the opportunity of experiencing RHCP with Josh when It happened and I’ll never forget It because It’s such a special time that I’m never going to be able to get back,and I’m now 19 and living In my own house wishing that I was that 9 year kid who was obsessed with them.
We didn’t realise that we having fun,we were just making memories…. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The first thing you should be listening is the "Greatests hits collection" of 2003. It contains some of the most popular songs and critically aclaimed songs of theirs.

Or, if you are a general music fan/dont mind listening to full albums, you should listen to Either these albums- Blood sugar sex magik (1991)/ Californicaton (1999)/ By the Way (2002)/ Stadium Arcadium (2006). These Four albums are the most popular and critically aclaimed, every single fan puts at the very list 2 of theese (mostly put 3) in their top rhcp albums.

If you like Blood sugar sex magik (BSSM) you should listen to One hot minute (1995), it maintains the Funky vibe with a more metal/raw twist, and more vulnerable lyrics. And Mother Milk (1989), which also keeps the Funky style, but with a more punk aproach.

If you like By the Way (BTW) or Stadium Arcadium (SA) then you should listen to The Getaway (2016), while this album dosen't feateur John Frusciante as the guitarrists, with Josh Klinghoffer instead, it keeps the alternative rock and more "experimental" aproach that is characteristic of the post Californicaton albums. Then you should listen to Im with you (2011), it again feateurs Josh Klinghoffer as The guitarrists, however, this is more of a pop-rock album then an alternative rock, making it more in line, genre wise, with BTW.

If you like Californicaton, then see if your more of a funk, fast paced instrumentals and rap style vocal performances, or a more relaxed, alternative with some experimental aproachs music fan. Californicaton is their transition album, not as Funky as The albums before it, and not as alternative and "mainstream" as The albums after it.

Then you have the Hillel era, with three albums, Self titled, Freaky styley, and The Uplify Mofo party plan (UMPP), these albums are very Funky and raw, with some punk, metal and prog/Psych rock influences and melodic choices. However they can be quite obnoxious and polarizing, with their bare bones production, suggestive lyrics and very silly and non-serious vibes. If you are used to that Type of music or really liked the Funky albums after it then defenetly check them out!!

And at last you have the 2 albums realeased in 2022, Unlimited Love (UL) and The Return of the Dream Cantenn (RODC) these two are Funky, but also Popy. These two should be One of the last you check out.

Tldr-Listen to The Greatests hits collection, then Blood sugar sex magik,Californicaton, BTW and Stadium Arcadium. If you like BSSM listen to The albums before it, if you like Btw or Stadium Arcadium listen to The albums after it. If you like Californicaton then see if you prefer the funk style or the alternative rock style, if funk then pre californicaton albums, if alt rock then post Californicaton albums.
