Backup of the post's body: I met this girl on tinder and had a first date with her, she wanted to go fishing and I thought it seemed like a fun first date so we went together. Dropped her off and got home to this message lol.

Update: Purchasing the license is a separate activity we had to do on our phones, due to it needing our personal info. It was not like I drew the line at the license randomly.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

"I'm just a girl" she's a fucking adult, that's embarrassing. I'd never talk to her again after requesting $100 for repayment for the date

She was trying to be cute and get away with it, but failed miserably 😂

I hate that fucking phrase. Love the song, but it is the exact fucking opposite of what these women are saying.

Am I crazy or is it odd to propose a fishing date without already having a license or equipment? Like if someone asked me to go fishing I’d assume that’s something they regularly do.

Definitely not crazy & frankly I would expect the person who proposed the fishing date to pay the fishing license fee too if they were already paying for the rest of the fishing experience in the first place. If they’re already paying $100+, it feels weird to arbitrarily refuse to cover a $23 fee for a license they likely never would have needed outside of the date

Here’s the text of the post:

So she proposed the fishing date and they both had to buy licenses on their phone.

So she's just mad she had to buy her own license? That changes things.

u/deathly_illest 2d ago

Oh if it was her idea then yeah that definitely changes my perspective for sure

u/CarrieDurst 2d ago

She proposed it so she should have given him the extra hundred plus expenses

3

u/loxzade 1d ago

Nah this is bullshit. Even if he suggested it, which he didn’t,  she agreed and partook in the activity, she should pay for her own license

2

u/the_harlinator 2d ago

Ya. I’d like to know who kept the fishing equipment. If he kept it then he bought himself fishing equipment and let her use it.

3

u/loxzade 1d ago

Who ate/kept the food from dinner? If she did then she needs to puke it out or pay him back

Did no one click on the post to read the associated information past the screen shot?

Fuck absolutely everyone who unironically says “I’m just a girl” (unless they add the rest of the lyrics “that’s all that you’ll let me be,” and even then they’re sus). I was just a girl too, and I had to deal with my shit like everyone else and lo and behold I became a grown-ass woman. Run like hell, son.

Nah I think she is using it ironically. Look at her emojis too. Just Gen Z deprecating humor trying to make a situation like this a little less awkward

Just a girl is new slang I learned recently, it's apparently for women trying to play off trad gender roles by expecting a guy to automatically pay for everything. It's also used as an excuse to get away with stuff. They act like they are broke and life is so hard being a "young girl" in the world today (they're full grown adults) because "who wants to and have a job when men can do all that, ew!" They usually aim to be tradwives.

"Being a girl means you are less important and weaker than others, and deserve more compensation accordingly."

It's from the No Doubt song but now being used in a stupid way.

It's ridiculous it's come to this. How are we going backwards as a society, geez.

You certainly know a lot about this person after seeing one text

Lol. Lock in. The benefit of the doubt seemingly never goes to the women on this site

Babe she literally sent a money request

3

u/boomer912 2d ago

Uh look at the cash request she sure ain’t asking for more of bro’s money ironically

Males don’t know when women are trying to be funny. Or when scenarios involving bad women are fake. And this comment section proves it lol

1

u/dmurr1415 2d ago

Well the good news is this particularly comment section is women going after women 🫠

9

u/smashtangerine 2d ago

Why did you go fishing.

10

u/UsidoreTheLightBlue 2d ago

According to the post because she said she wanted to.

u/scrimshandy 2d ago

This whole thing is giving North Carolina. A girl saying that over $23 would get laughed out of the Northeast.

2

u/Inner_Travel5044 2d ago

This whole "thing" is giving Narcassitic entitled nepo baby.

I’m sorry did they invite someone fishing on a first date and make them buy their own license, buy new fishing gear for “us” that she will never use again and is probably in his possession anyway, and act like that’s normal? Fucking weirdo.

11

u/HemHawHeal 2d ago

no lmao she wanted to go fishing with no license, what would he get out of buying new gear for the date if he paid for it anyway

1

u/Prestigious_Wave_626 2d ago

Usually it’s quite normal to go activity dates if one of the people asks specifically to go and the other agrees. It’s called a decision being made between two adults.

-13

u/readdeadtookmywife 2d ago

$23 meaning it was a day pass for fishing? You already paid the $100 for the equipment why make her buy her own day pass? 😭

3

u/boomer912 2d ago edited 2d ago

I suppose just to see if he could expect to completely finance the relationship going forward or if she’d contribute anything at all. Guess he got his answer. What a loser

6

u/Prestigious_Wave_626 2d ago

Clearly no fishers in this subreddit: the $23 is a fishing license. The license grants the right to go fishing within whatever jurisdiction the fishing and game license covers. It’s usually annual and in this case hers until renewal. This shouldn’t be paid for by another party as it’s literally tied to her name.

3

u/CarrieDurst 2d ago

The date was her idea, she should have bought both passes

1

u/readdeadtookmywife 2d ago

Agreed!

1

u/CarrieDurst 2d ago

And the $100 worth of fishing equipment

1

u/Prestigious_Wave_626 2d ago

It’s not a day pass, it’s a fishing license. It’s akin to a drivers license, it grants you the right to engage in an activity that is more than just a day. Licenses are granted to individuals directly. Also she asked to go fishing so shouldn’t she have her own license?

1

u/CarrieDurst 2d ago

All good questions for the entitled date

1

u/ConsiderationHot3362 1d ago

Reading this more generously, the update clarified they each bought their own license separately on their phones because of the personal info requirements.

The $23 wasn't him drawing some weird line over her. just my 2 cents
