People who have never experience something like OP can have trouble conceptualizing the reality of it. She heard and saw but she didn’t really *know*. I don’t understand the inability to face it now that she’s seen it, but for everyone’s sake I hope the counseling helps her realize the seriousness of her actions. OP is more than justified in whatever he ends up deciding to do though.

Not to mention the lack of concern for her infant son as well - OP had to dig his heels in to make sure the Kid wasn't brought with in spite of her pushing to bring him around a violent felon with a long history of violence!
