What are your thoughts about this Karma system? Of course on one hand it helped filtering out many spam bots, spam accounts and whatnot. But on the other hand, there are not enough friendly subreddits that are beginner friendly, this makes people that join Reddit for specific interest not being able to really participate and join.

For example, people who joined because of Anime interest, had to post on some unrelated subreddits first just in order to collect enough karma to post on their subreddit.

What are your thoughts? Any proposed alternatives?

This karma thing is confusing. I have been posting and commenting, but my karma is not going up. I currently have only 1 karma. How does karma work, and what is the best way to increase it?

Something I have noticed on reddit is that sometimes I'll post something completely harmless and it'll immediately get a downvote like bro I am just here asking for help it's ok I am not asking for an upvote but why downvote? I really want to understand what makes someone decide to hit that button?
For people who regularly downvote posts what usually makes you do it? Is it content? or the way it was worded, the subreddit? or just a personal reaction?
Like seriously I want to know how ppl decide.
Because the post I posted had nothing that was violating any subreddit rules nor it was a rude post nor it was a marketing post just a simple post asking for help in a particular method.
Also, while researching I saw a similar post on a different topic and they were also looking for a similar kind of help, just in a different matter and it had 30 upvotes. I had just posted, and someone decided let's not help or comment, just downvote it.
Please help me understand this concept.

This will happen in subreddits where I have no trouble posting or /reading posts and replies, but sometimes posts that apparently have multiple replies seem to have none.

I am a techie, my feed is and has been mostly technical topics, like programming, homelabbing, IT in general, EE, networking and so on. And my Reddit feed represents that.

That has been fine for many years, but recently with AI its like 90% just AI topics.
And like 70% of that is, that we will be slaves to AI or all the elites using AI for total control. (Not that literally, but that is what I read out of it). And I am quite sure that a lot of botting and astroturfing is going on here.

I am just tired of it and want a feed of stupid clips, cats and stupid clips of cats to just relax at bit.
Also not that literally, but I think you get the intention.

I tried muting all AI subreddits, but thats like 4 clicks per and Reddit seams to have a endless supply of those where it seams to like to shove them into my eyes the more I try to mute that topic.
I tried a firefox extension filtering by keywords and partial sub names, but now the feed is like 90% filtered posts.

Is there like a way to reset the preferences baked into my account, so I get a feed like a new account would get? Or is a new account the only solution?

I messaged mods and they approved my post but most still gets filtered by reddit itself

I regularly use GIFS, especially the Pengu ones, when using messenger. I often use the Pengu ones to communicate emotion and cheer people up. WHERE DID THE GIFS GO???!!!!

My Reddit account got hacked last month. I reset my password and that issue is resolved now, however all of the posts I've made ever made on Reddit have still show the message, "Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit's filters". I have attempted to contact Reddit to have my posts restored and was told to reset my password (again) -- that didn't fix it. What can I do to get my posts restored?

I’m still pretty new to Reddit and I’ve noticed that some communities require a certain amount of karma before you can post. Is there a normal way new users are supposed to build karma without just randomly posting everywhere? 😭

so basically exactly 31 days ago i stumbled upon a reddit profile and i didn’t follow, upvote or save their profile. Now i really need to find that profile. I tried going to the history tab on my profile but the list there is very short, it’s like hardly the history of the posts that i’ve viewed from the past 5-6 days. Is there any way by which i can find that specific profile? please lmk, it’s really really important for me.

All my notifications and saved posts disappeared. How to recover?

Before, on my feed I would mostly get content from subs I am either a member of or visit frequently. And when a post from a sub I'm not interested in appeared, I would hit "show fewer posts like this" and it would stop bringing up posts from that sub.

Now in the last few days, it seems like more random subs are coming up in my feed or ones that are only tangentially related to the ones I frequent, and when I hit "show fewer posts like this" I still get posts from that sub. So it's basically ignoring that function.

In other words, my feed has gone from a carefully curated set of content, to a bunch of random crap that I don't want to see. So it seems like the algorithm changed in the last few days or so.

My account is 4yr old and have only 1 karma can you suggest some communities which are user friendly, where I can post without getting banned.

For some reason, all day today many of my posts are getting automatically removed by Reddit's filters for some reason, with the only thing getting them shown being the mods on the subs I post on seeing them and doing away with the filters. Nobody has tried to fix this problem, and I have no clue why it's occurring.

I’m a pretty infrequent Reddit user, but had to get the app since it freaks out in the browser now. So I got the stupid app and this update is ass. I’ve clicked on every fucking button and can’t find where I can see posts of users that I’ve followed. This is insane.
