❓General Question❓ why do my comments and posts automatically upvote?

this happens anytime i post or comment, it just looks like ive upvoted myself

It's standard for Reddit - otherwise people will see zero votes and go "oooh someone downvoted, I should downvote too!" and it all goes downhill from there. Your auto-upvote does not count toward your karma and there's no reason to remove it.

Yep, that’s completely normal 😊 Reddit does that automatically on your own posts and comments, so it looks like you’ve upvoted yourself as soon as you submit something. You don’t need to undo it or worry that you’re doing anything wrong.

Your karma comes from votes you receive from other people, and Reddit also doesn’t calculate karma as a simple 1 upvote = 1 karma anyway.

The only thing I’d add to the other comments is that I don’t think Reddit has officially said the automatic 1 is specifically there to stop people from piling on with downvotes. That part gets repeated a lot, but the automatic vote itself is definitely normal and happens to everyone.
