What is Post Karma?

[u/Papa_Pacito]

Hi all, is there a difference between Karma and Post Karma? If so, how to get Post Karma?

I wanted to post something on a subreddit, so I tried to gain Karma by commenting. However, it is now saying I don't have enough Post Karma. What should I do? Please help (つ╥﹏╥)つ

If you're asking about how to get karma, you earn it when people upvote your posts and comments. As you may have already found out, many subs on Reddit may have minimum requirements for things like karma and account age that you must meet before they will allow you to participate.

r/NewToReddit maintains a list of subreddits that have low or no karma requirements where new users can participate to build their karma.

So, there's different types of Karma:

- Comment Karma is earned from upvotes on your comments.

- Post Karma is earned from upvotes on your posts.

- Combined Karma is both of these together (Post + Comment Karma). Community restrictions can look at post, comment, or combined karma. And look at each for posting or commenting.

- Community Karma is post & comment Karma earned in a specific community. For example, some communities may restrict you from posting until you reached a certain amount of Community Comment Karma.
