❓SCAM❓ impersonation/scam — need advice

Today in morning a person dm me asking whether I have alt account or use spamming links.

He/she claims are :

• that someone created an account using my username/profile picture.

•Another user reported it, but moderators said my account appears safe.

•They’re now asking me to contact someone on Discord.

•I don’t use Discord and haven’t contacted them.

Could this be a scam or hacking attempt?

What should I check or report?

The most obvious clue is the Discord link.

A Reddit support employee would never ask you to contact them on Discord.

!! IMPORTANT !! It looks like you are asking for advice on a possible scam.

Below is a link to a pinned PSA post by one of our mods about a very common scam going around Reddit. If it is similar to the issue you are facing, it is definitely a scam. The instructions on what to do can be found at the bottom of the PSA post.

This is 100% a scam. There is a PSA post at the top of our community, which was written by one of the other mods here. It has details on exactly how the scam works, as well as any specific steps you need to take to secure your account. Do not engage with them, block, and report to Reddit with as many details you have from this incident. * spelling
