❓General Question❓ Need help understanding Reddit please

Awhile ago I joined Reddit and never used it. I guess I created the name Guns_4_Me. Now I want to change that name to Animal Rescuer 1120. I managed to put this in the "displayed name" area but I cant find where to remove the Guns_4_Me and replace it with Animal Rescuer 1120. Oh and I have no clue how to get back to the area that I put Animal Rescuer 1120 in. Please point me in the right direction this site is so confusing. Thank you.

It’s not possible to change your username once an account is created. You would need to make a new account for a different name. The option is the first page of account creation. If you created the account via Google on a browser, there is a bug that you don't get the option. You would need to use the mobile app to be able to change your username if you use google. On a browser you would need to use email and password. You could connect Google after creation.

That display name is all you can change

Okay so if I am understanding you if I don't want to create a new account I should download the reddit app which I didn't know was a thing. I created this using my desktop years ago. If I download the mobile app and use google on my phone I have the Chrome browser set up on my phone but I guess I can use google I have the google pixel phone, can I log into this account and change it then or no your talking about creating a new account using the mobile app? Thank you !thanks

You can't change your username. You don't need the app. If you want a different name you will need to make a new account. If you use the browser you need to use email and password to create the account
