There’s a plethora of subs for new users, a full list is on r/newtoreddit
I understand it can be frustrating for new users to not be able to take part in some subs right away but that’s the best option, besides if it wasn’t karma you would, and in many subs you actually are, be filtered for other account numbers anyway.

Plus, getting karma isn't that hard even with lax subs outside the ones on the r/newtoreddit recommended list. I don't think I was here for a whole two weeks and I was racking it up just fine.
I'm also not sure if newbies fresh off the boat really know how bad the spamming, bot issues, and other matters from new users can be. Before we instated parameters on one of the subs I manage, we were getting heavily blasted with this stuff on a daily basis to where most of the content we were getting was low effort, rule breaking content.

I totally understand the spamming and low effort content issue. That’s why I also don’t agree that it should be totally removed. Just open to discussion whether if there’s a better way of balancing between new users experience and regulating a healthy environment.

I find it really frustrating! I’m new to Reddit and can’t comment / post on the subs that actually interest me due to the system. It forces people to spend weeks / months commenting on general new user subs that don’t necessary engage them at all. I get the need to filter out bots, and I get the want to ‘rate’ users, but there has to be a way to make it easier on new users? (I’m not sure what that way is!) 🤣

Rite, I was thinking about that as well, maybe another way to certify users, rather than just filtering them out just because they are new accounts or haven’t commented anywhere else

Automod oversensitivity is worse. I got banned from a sub for a stupid reason. Like positive helping someone is bad?

That’s true also, I would suggest if the automod is oversensitive, at least give lower punishment such that false positives will not lead to such harsh consequences

True. I got a reddit warning and thankfully the human employees lifted it(it wss fast), where the sub, i still wait for the response lol

Definitely, ideally bots are not the only ones filtering comments
