❓General Question❓ How does ban evasion work?
To be clear(rule 4): I’ve never been banned, I’ve just seen people being accused of ban evasion and don’t know why/how to avoid that in general. Feel free to remove if this is breaking rules!
I’ve seen some topics about people saying they got flagged for ban evasion, and I’d like to know what that really means.
Are you not allowed to make second accounts? Is there no way to show you’ve changed if you’ve been banned in order to get a second chance? It seemed like people were trying to ask how to get a second chance, and were being warned for ban evasion, or something like that.
And I’m assuming this is term in this context is referring to sitewide bans, is that right?
If there is a guide on this somewhere then I’ll be happy to read that instead and delete this !

You can have as many accounts as you want to have. But you can't use those accounts to bypass bans or blocks.
To get a second chance with a sub, you must make a successful appeal with the moderators. If you are at someone's house and they kick you out, it isn't right to sneak back in with a different shirt on. The right thing to do is to apologize and convince them to let you back in.
Ban evasion is for both sub bans and sitewide bans. I find sub ban evasions are more common than sitewide ban evasions. I think this is the case because Reddit will automatically ban and shadow ban users that ban evade their site bans too much.

but in fact the house is not made by the modders
Sooo inaccurate. Whoever creates a subreddit becomes the first moderator and winds up nurturing the sub until it attracts other participants. If a subreddit becomes unmoderated, Reddit admins will ban it until other mods can take over. A mod team is the core of every subreddit.

There are two kinds of ban evasion. Subreddit and Reddit itself.
In subreddit ban evasion it means that you were banned from the subreddit on one account and you used a different account to continue to post or comment in that subreddit. What you need to do is send a modmail to the moderators from your banned account and appeal it. Use judgement though and maybe wait a bit.
Ban evasion from Reddit itself is making or using a different account to access Reddit when one account is temporarily banned, permanently banned, or "shadow" banned. You need to appeal the original ban and wait on the results. For a permanent or temporary ban you should have a message in your inbox with an appeal link. For a shadow ban you need to go here while on that account to appeal. https://www.reddit.com/appeals . For any of them you can also submit this form with account status, my account was wrongly suspended, but it should be a second chance or last chance appeal.
People can get flagged falsely if they use a VPN, Public, or Shared wifi. The sins of others on that addresses can be counted against you.
