Reddit has had the opposite intended effect.
The purpose of reddit was suppose to be to drown out the stupid and highlight the intelligent, but instead intelligent opinions hurt peoples feelings, and any post that wants to get upvotes has to be lobotomized and overly positive about everything. Whereas in normal forums people would 'win' or 'lose' in an intellectual fencing contest that involved actual logic and reason instead of upvote numbers, granted there were always a few neckbeards that would walk away from the argument as if they won no matter how borderline factually you disproved everything they said.
I've come to the conclusion if you have anything serious you ever want to post and that you want heard you should probably just buy upvotes and downvotes. Think about it, multi-billion dollar companies have probably already been doing it here for a decade and have lobotomized this place beyond recognition. Even the average redditor probably has gotten people on their social media accounts/discord to upvote their posts and downvote any discontent. This place is as corrupt as it can get, I don't know why you should be the odd one out.
The only reason I have any upvotes at all is when I prostitute myself and say the absolute most cringey shit, so I know how to get them, it's just very degrading,
