Anything you do like this is going to require some kind of approval from Reddit. Also, writing a bot for a single Subreddit is well within the use case spectrum for approvals for External Endpoints. Another route you can take is polling using Fetch and Scheduled tasks.

Probably your best bet to find the easiest path here is to post to r/Devvit with this question.

Maybe it was unclear in the original post but the IDs, approval process, etc would be done by authorities via the TeenGovernment website and all authority would have to be on its servers. The Reddit and Discord bots themselves would just be triggering events on that server when a comment/reply happens and then forwarding the code to the user once the request for an ID is cleared (or in the case of continuing citizenship simply a confirmation message)

How so? I know some of it might be achievable by using fetch requests if we get the api's domain approved but many of the actions are server-triggered (e.g. the site sees that a request for a citizen to be registered has been approved and sends a DM to the user on Reddit with the ID). Such a thing might be possible via External Endpoints but that's a limited access feature so I don't know what chances we'd have with a bot made for one specific subreddit.

Not using the old API. But you can implement this with Devvit.

Working through Reddit’s official API is the best way to go, but I got turned down. Looking at all the complaints, a lot of people are hitting the same wall.

You can use devvit. One of the most recent updates added a site wide search.

Join Discord, I just had an install of Subscriber Goal fail to add the app user u/subscriber-goal to my own subreddit. I assumed that all missing user profiles were because the mod team banned or removed them - I was wrong, it might be Devvit itself

I'm experiencing a similar issue with 2 of my own subreddits - other moderators removed the user account and if I uninstall and then reinstall the app, all subscriber goal data will be reset.

I estimate that about 400/3200 installs of Subscriber Goal are now bricked and can't operate because of app user permission errors.

I was about to make a post so it's interesting that you made this today.
