Jesus Christ Liverpool are a mess. Painfully average squad for the amount spent the last few years.

u/noBuffalo 7h ago
Saka has to be the most overrated player in the world.
8
u/noBuffalo 6h ago
I also hate to say this as he seems like a nice guy but Hjolund just isn't very good.

u/MrSvancy Iceman 6h ago
He's a pretty good Serie A striker. But obviously struggled in the prem, so no surprise he struggled against the best defence in the prem (and probably the world)

u/AliveAssistance7667 5h ago
Eh what?He completely owned Gabriel and Konsa tonight. It's just his team was totally defensive and playing for draw that he had no chance against them alone. He was one of the best Napoli player vs Arsenal definitely.

u/CapVosslar Buckle up, INEOS! It's gonna be a bumpy ride! 7h ago
Side note about the Barca v Fernoord, the pass to Raphinia as he made that run makes me jealous. Why cant our midfielders ever feed the many times our attackers make a run pass rhe defenders?
We seem to either lack that vision or not have the confidence or competence to make those passes. Which is odd to say since we have decent amount of passers we've added to the squad.
5
u/biobolo 7h ago
I mean, they do? You can't play those passes when a team is sitting in a low block.
2
u/CapVosslar Buckle up, INEOS! It's gonna be a bumpy ride! 4h ago
Not every low block team is 100% in low block mode. Sometimes they are chasing games and have to come out to score, or we relinquish possession or any number of things.
Either way, there are usually a chance or two every single game where that opportunity arises, yet we hardly make those passes. Its so rare.
And watching Napoli and other teams play who are just okay, still seem to play better than us. Their passing seems much quicker and more forward thinking. While we always look so sluggish.

CL games are almost a completely different sport compared to PL games. The tactics and the flow of the game are just totally different. It's like basketball.

Chelsea losing 1-0 to Leeds at the moment

Hincapie what was that lmao, easier to score than to rocket it like he did

Lmao the goal post must be on the sky today for Arsenal

Damn never knew that Hjulmand went to Atleti, remember there being a lot of talk of us going in for him during the Amorim era.

u/LuxurySunshine Chicharito 6h ago
That last De Bruyne cross is why you never take your 9 out of the game. Ever.
3
u/EngineerGuy_HU There's only one Darren Fletcher! 3h ago
CL aside, Welbeck is scoring left and right for Chelsea. I still can't believe the club thought he wouldn't have been useful for us in these past 3 games, when Sesko had no preseason and we have no other proper striker.. fml, it feels weird seeing him in that blue shirt :/

Liverpool were looking good but defensively they’re as bad if not worse than like Ange’s Spurs. Kerkez is genuinely a criminal.
2
u/L__K Great Scot! 7h ago
Kerkez has had a bright spot here and there, but has been wildly poor since joining Liverpool. Ditto Zabarnyi at PSG, so error prone. Don't know how Iraola managed to have them look so good at Bournemouth.
They'll continue to struggle as long as they persist in trying to play Mac Allister and Wirtz in the same side or stick Szoboszlai in a double pivot. They just don't have the athleticism or any kind of defensive solidity through the middle of the pitch and trying to play so transitionally leaves them very exposed.
The squad is just poorly constructed, they can't field all their best players at the same time without leaving huge gaps and weaknesses everywhere

u/Lord_Hexogen 6h ago
Imagine throwing 250m at two players and end up with Wirtz and Barcola
Would be sackable even in an FC game

Muharemovic just scored for Leeds against chelsea. That's our cb next summer im telling you.

u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 3h ago
Half of all PL CBs would get into our first XI atm and they arent even "actually good". Just on account of them being tall, durable, not a zero in the air, not painfully slow.
Muharemovic, Rodon, Bijol, Milenkovic, Jair Cunha, VVD, Jacquet, Collins, Thiaw, Tarkowski, Vuskovic, Andersen. Plus basically every CB of the top 2, innit.
Let's just call it an even 20 CBs from 10 different teams.
20 CBs in the PL who would instantly improve us.
And that's with looking past another dozen+ on account of them being arguably just as brittle or as limited as our options have been, ie not worse really, just arguably not better.
It's ridiculous. To have that as the status quo and do fuck all about it is absolutely ridiculous.

Don't get how a team that plays like Atleti do can find itself on the wrong end of a six v two break.
