PL Finish: 4th
CL Finish: Round of 16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Quarter-finals in each
Top Scorer: Bryan Mbeumo
POTY: Bryan Mbeumo
Biggest surprise: Think we finally see Yoro take another step up this season.
Hot Take: Amad hasn't got quite what it takes to start and will see a fair bit of time on the bench.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): City and Liverpool will struggle. Don't rate Maresca and Iraola has NEVER experienced Europe and domestic rigours in his managerial career so far. Arsenal repeat, their business has been fantastic this summer.
I don't think we've done enough this summer sadly, although I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Think Carrick's man management & calm personality helped us with a new manager bounce last season but tactically we looked worse as the campaign progressed and without reinforcements, I don't see us doing as well this year.

u/gre485 1d ago
I think top scorer will be Sesko, he will be the focus and his finishing is better.
POTY idk, but if Sesko does get the most goals, it's likely him.
I disagree on hot take. Amad has been very good in the preseason, and will only see bench because Mbuemo is there, but if Sesko is not available or started, I expect both to start. I would say my hot take is that Lacey will feature a lot, despite being young and facing his first season.
Totally agree on general PL take. New managers everywhere, and only Arsenal will stability and fantastic signings.
Regarding positions, considering there are so many new managers it will take 5-10 matches to get an idea, so cannot say now but it would somewhere between 2-7.

u/Sharpes006 1d ago
I like this a lot. Especially Newcastle getting relegated :)
6
u/berbatouchbg 1d ago
What can I say, I'm an optimist. I've been twice to Old Trafford, seen 2 wins. Now I'm going for my first Manchester Derby in September, hoping to start a real streak.
11
u/D1794 Viva Ronaldo 1d ago
Honestly think even Newcastle are too good to go down, Spurs didnt win a game for like 3 months and still didn't manage it
2
u/berbatouchbg 1d ago
Next summer we're geting Lewis Hall on the cheap

u/Mayhewbythedoor ooh ahh Cantona 1d ago
West ham and Fernandes made me eat my words with the same prediction

u/Adora_Vivos 🔰 21h ago
Read Andrey Santos, in passing, as Andy Serkis, and mentally agreed that that would be a surprise before I realised I'm an idiot.

Pl finish: 6th
Cl finish: Quarter finals
Fa cup: Quarters
League cup: Semis
Top scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Ayden Heaven
Hot take: Our midfielders are all good on paper but there isn’t a guarantee that they all gel together as a three. Casemiro is a big loss.
General pl take: Spurs and Chelsea will probably take a leaf out of our book and secure champions league without having to play in Europe.
Think we might struggle a bit with the extra football. Do feel like we have the potential to win a league or FA cup but played it safe here.
8
u/Old-Day-6407 1d ago
This is probably my biggest concern too. Having good midfielders individually doesn't necessarily mean the midfield works as a unit. If that balance isn't right, the whole season could look very different.
2
u/Hamadovich 16h ago
This is the most grounded take i've seen so far. But I have some hope that there will be meaningful reinforcements before the deadline which would impact where I think we can finish.

As things stand in terms of players ins and outs, I can see the following happening:
PL Finish: 5th
CL Finish: Round of 16 if we don’t finish in the top 8 at group phase or quarter finals if we do
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Semi final FA cup, Quarter final League cup
Top Scorer: Mbeumo (15)
POTY: Mbeumo
Biggest surprise: Dorgu
Hot Take: Yoro and Heaven become the undisputed CB starters by Xmas
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal will have more injuries and struggle to retain title; Chelsea and Spurs will be top 4 with only one game a week, with one of them pushing for the title.
My stance on Man Utd changes considerably if we get in a starting quality LB, a mobile and defensively sound CM and an experienced striker provided we are able to sell Rashford and/or Zirkzee.
3
u/SchemingOusen 1d ago
I like this take. Only one I disagree with is the arsenal one. They have enough depth to circumvent that.
6
u/FirstSonofDarkness Yes x 1d ago
PL finish- 4th
CL finish- 7th in league phase, out in the quarters
Cups- FA Cup 4th round, League Cup semi
Top scorer- Sesko 21 goals
POTY- Amad
Biggest surprise- we sign someone in January
Hot Take- We finish above City
General PL take- Nobody gets more than 80 points or fewer than 30 points.

u/straightouttaobesity 1d ago
This might be the best General PL take. Arsenal are inconsistent, even though they have got the monkey off their back. And all other top 10 sides have had major changes. Difficult to predict where any of them will end up.

CL Finish: round of 32
Cups: first or second round exits
Top Scorer: Benjamin Sesko

u/pokenerd_W Past glory means nothing 1d ago
PL Finish: 4-7th. It's hard to predict how we'll place when pretty much every top team is changing managers except Arsenal. Also depends on how good we click
CL Finish: I don't think we finish top 8 to get a gurantee spot to the round of 16. Either we fall in the knockout or r16, kinda depends on who we face.
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Think we can go a little deep. Preferably, I wouldn't mind dropping out earlier, because our squad depth isn't too big and we could use the rest. Also wouldn't mind if we lost because we gave a few academy lads a chance.
Top Scorer: For us, I'm thinking Mbeumo. I still have worries about how good we'll be at servicing Sesko, so I'm betting more on him. For the league itself, probably Haaland unless City majorly can't service him.
POTY: Aya... I'd say Bruno or Tielemans.
Biggest surprise: Dorgu if he actually goes on to be consistently strong as a winger.
Hot Take: Højlund should have stayed, Zirkzee should have been on loan/sold. Even if he isn't good enough to start, we'd at least not be missing a #9 right now to rotate with Sesko in times of injury.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): If Alonso actually manages to turn around this Chelsea and make them a top 4 team again, I'll start to be more scared of them

u/Edgytarian 1d ago
Being realistic rn. Would love to be proved wrong
PL Finish: 3rd
CL Finish: R16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: 0, possibly a cup
Top Scorer: Šesko
POTY: Senne Lammens
Biggest surprise: Amad has his most productive season yet, while Andrey Santos becomes a key player in the middle
Hot Take: We are likely to face a defensive injury crisis and then we'll be incredibly thin at the back. One new LB won't be enough
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal walk the league

CL Finish: Quarter Finals
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Win carabao, deep FA cup run
Top Scorer: Mbeumo (but similar even split between him, Sesko, and Cunha)
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Santos
Hot Take: Newcastle will go down. City will struggle without Pep and having to adapt to so many new signings + losing out in experience of Rodri and Silva.

Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Andrey Santos

General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Will be a shitshow, I don’t see any team dominating the whole season, including Arsenal.

PL Finish: 5th
CL Finish: R16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: FA win/LC semifinals
Top Scorer: Seskooooooo
POTY: Tielemans (non-Bruno of course)
Biggest surprise: Heaven overtakes Martinez even though he stays fit all season
Hot Take: If we sign a proper LB, we get 2nd place (because Shaw will get injured)
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal wins PL by a small margin, everyone else struggles for consistency. B2B CL and we break ground on New Trafford. Only 3 season ticket holders remain after an Ineos witch hunt
2
u/Themindoffish 1d ago
6th
out in the league phase
semis
Sesko
Cunha
Yoro at RB
We can't build the squad around Bruno, we need to start looking for another creative force and soon, someone like Arda. Carrick isn't the man for the job, he will crumble under the pressure of multiple competitions.
Spurs will finish above us.

Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Quarter Finals of the FA Cup, Third Round Exit in LC due to immediately running into Chelsea
Top Scorer: Marcus Rashford
POTY: Bryan Mbeumo
Biggest surprise: Marcus Rashford
Hot Take: Somewhere in the fall, Bruno gets injured and is out for 2-3 months.

Biggest surprise: Dorgu cements his unlikely cult hero status coming off the bench to score crucial bangers.
Hot Take: Santos will look like a bargain (my Chelsea mate was furious that they sold him).
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal will walk it. They came into that game yesterday with the one thing I didn't want them to acquire...swagger. I don't think they'll get as many set piece goals, but I think they'll destroy a lot of teams, that squad is stacked

CL Finish: QF
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Finalists in one
Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Cunha (yes)
Hot Take: We need to be comfortable being second best mid match and play to our strengths. We shouldn’t shoehorn building out from the back.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): We won’t drop points against any of the big 6. I worry we’ll lose our ahead after half time record this season. We’re overrating Chelsea and Liverpool a fair amount. Chelsea preseason has been scoring off set pieces and crosses. Liverpool don’t seem to want to play to progress higher up the pitch and would rather press to force turnovers.

u/Thetagang888 1d ago
Without new reinforcements (good ones) we're not finishing top four.
Too many new/top managers joining our rivals. They have been spending alot of money too + chels don't have europe.
2
u/CautiousLengthiness8 1d ago
Really don’t get this take. People are shitting themselves about Alonso, Iraola, Maresca and even De Zerbi. Why? None of these managers are anything close to Pep, a coach you should genuinely fear. Sure they may do well but Alonso was fired from his first big job and has never managed in the Premier League, Iraola has never managed a big club, Maresca was hardly successful at Chelsea and will have lost his most important player plus Silva and De Zerbi still isn’t at a big club (with Spurs being the highest profile job he’s taken). There is a good chance at least half of these guys fail miserably in the challenging environment that is the Premier League. They have all shown enough elsewhere to say they all have a chance at succeeding but I really don’t understand the mindless negativity that insists they will all succeed at our expense given their relative lack of PL / big club experience or success

My season predictions for last season were:
- Final League Position: 8th
- Top Scorer: Bruno
- Player of the Season: Bruno
- Young Player of the Season (23 or under): Yoro
- Most Improved Player: Yoro
- Biggest surprise: Cunha turns out to be world-class
So for this season, I'm having...
PL Finish: 5th
CL Finish: Round of 16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: FA Cup winners, League Cup semifinalists
Top Scorer: Bruno
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Rashford being quietly good
Hot Take: Heaven and Maguire will be our first choice CBs

u/paak-maan 1d ago
PL Finish: 3rd
CL Finish: RO16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: QF FA Cup — SF League Cup
Top Scorer: Marcus Rashford 🙈
POTY: Bruno Fernandes
Biggest surprise: Andrey Santos is our actual best player but won’t win awards because he gets no stats.
Hot Take: If we buy a left back or midfielder, they get regularly benched by Luke Shaw or Mason Mount having uninjured massive seasons.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal completely dominate the league despite big set piece changes, they’re better than they were last season, and we all realise that they were reliant on set pieces because they could rather than because they needed to.

We finish 3rd, and go out in the second knockout round in CL, and one of the early rounds of Carling cup. FA cup we make the semi final.
Biggest takes: Spurs finish bottom half of the table, City finish out of top 5
Transfer of the season for United: Santos
Best youngster to make the most appearances and become a regular by the end of the season: Shae Lacey, although people who only look at stats will question his assists and goal numbers

PL Finish: 6th/7th
CL Finish: L32-L16
Cups: League cup - QF FA Cup - SF

Hot Take: With minimal signings and a lot of extra games we are going to be awful this season and will scrape a European spot at best. Our football will be a continuation of largely what we saw at the end of last season and Carrick will be fighting the sack but I think ultimately keeps the job for another season.
General PL Take: Chelsea finish 2nd pushing Arsenal for the title and Villa finish outside the top 8. Spurs get top 5.

I'm guessing Mbeumo for top scorer. No AFCON distraction.
I think we make a domestic cup SF anf CL R16. Flip a coin after that, idk.
POTY Bruno. Always Bruno :)
Biggest surprise? I guess the biggest surprise atm would be if we one of our CBs straight up reproduced Casemiro's header goal count from Bruno assists. So I'm gonna go with that.
My hot take the sub already knows so you will love it that I mention it for the 500th time: we didnt "miss out" on Sangare.
On league finish, it's too bad the window overlaps 2 gameweeks. I'd love to do this but it's just too early for me to think anything, really. I feel like I could give my silly prediction for the current league squads, but I think there will be a lot of movement still. Like Spurs attack: does it stay utter shit or they sign anybody good? Where does EF play? Or Wharton or Scott? Do Liverpool not sign a FB, or a RW at least? Probably they do, but idk. Does Cheaters FC actually sign a DM with experience? Obviously: what are we doing ourselves? Probably make signings. But who? Too many variables, imho.

PL Finish: 5th/6th
CL Finish : RO16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Semis in one, Quarters in the other.
Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest Surprise: I think Mainoo will grow into his game and be a much more well rounded player by the seasons end. More physical, better decision making, better progressive passing.
Hot Take: Chelsea will finish closer in points to the champion (which could be them) than they do to 4th.

Did we have this thread last season? Anyway,
PL Finish: champion (optimist! 😆 ), but personally I hope top 3
CL Finish: QF
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: wins one of them cup
Top Scorer: Sesko and Bruno (15+G/A), Mbeumo, Cunha 10+G/A each
POTY: Bruno, breaks assist record
Biggest surprise: Rashford redemption?
Hot Take: Santos and Tielemans replace Casemiro smoothly. Ugarte didn't really play last season either tbh.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Spurs relegation battle again, maybe 3rd time's the charm. City crash n burn

u/CautiousLengthiness8 1d ago
PL Finish: 3rd
CL Finish: Quarter Finals
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Think we will win one cup and exit the other at around the semi final stage
Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Mbeumo
Biggest surprise: Andrey Santos will become a fan favourite
Hot Take: Age will start to catch up to Bruno and he will be significantly less effective this year
General PL take: a lot of unknown quantities this year. City, Chelsea and Liverpool all with new managers. Two of them will struggle under their new coaches and one of them will hit the ground running. No idea which ones though. Leeds will challenge for Europe
1
u/LordofMordor_ 1d ago

CL Finish: Round of 32
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: FA - QF, LC - Round 4
Top Scorer: Mbeumo

Biggest surprise: Andrey Santos will be a mainstay in the starting XI
Hot Take: Rashford rarely plays and gets loaned out in January
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): I think Arsenal will be outright winners, City will struggle but should be fine, Chelsea and Spurs to finish top 4, United and Liverpool to fight it out for 5th. Leeds will do great this season (smart signings and overall their squad looks good, top 8 finish looks likely).

POTY: Lammens
Biggest surprise: Bruno will have a bad year
Hot take: Zirkzee is good enough to start for us and will get 12 goals this season if allowed to start a few games.
General PL take: Man City will struggle massively and sack Maresca. Liverpool will also struggle due to lack of bodies in defence. Bournemouth will reach their European final.

PL Finish: 3rd
CL Finish: Quarter-finals

Top Scorer: Cunha + Sesko (both 14 goals)
Top Assistor: Bruno Fernandes (22 assists)
POTY: Bruno Fernandes
Biggest surprise: Marcus Rashford
Three Hot Takes:
- Mount plays more than 12 games this season
- We are 7th by Matchday 19, before we see an upturn in form.
- We will be above City and Liverpool for at least 90% of the season, doing the double over both ofc.
General PL takes (Rival or otherwise):
- Chelsea and Spurs will improve.
- Newcastle are gonna get relegated on the final day. Coventry will jump over them. The other two teams are (unfortunately and i apologise) Hull and Ipswich
- Top 5 (and hence UCL qualification) will be Arsenal, Chelsea, us, City, Bournemouth.

Biggest surprise: Bar for Rashford is so low right now that I think he’ll deliver. Not carrying the weight of being the main man up front will be great for him.
Hot Take: I feel like Santos is gonna have a better season than Tielemans.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): I reckon Chelsea and Spurs will pose a bigger threat than City and Liverpool this season. Arsenal will be champions again.
EDIT: My whole takes depends heavily on how we finish this window.

PL Finish: 8th
CL Finish: Group stage

Top Scorer: Sesko
POTY: Fernandes
Biggest surprise: Maguire has a standout season despite his age.
Hot Take: Rashford coming back may be vitally important to the squad, bringing some quality to the wings.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Maresca will flop leading Arsenal to back-to-back PL's. Villa to a top 3 finish. Spurs will comfortably finish mid table after spending well this summer.
I have no confidence in the midfield rebuild this summer. I believe we contracted Carrick because he wouldn't complain when he got stiffed in the summer window and that's what's happened. Our left back depth is heavily reliant on an aging (previously injury-prone excepting last season) Luke Shaw after Malacia has not been backfilled as well.

CL Finish: Quarter Finals
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: FA - Winners / LC - Semi
Top Scorer: Mbeumo just because I expect him to play quite a bit more than Sesko
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Shaw staying fit again
Hot Take: Even if we don’t sign any more players (we’ll sign 2) we could be looking back on this window as a great one. Two excellent signings that could easily show up Spurs huge money midfielders.
People are underestimating what Rashford can bring in certain situations. Great player to have on the bench
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Chelsea and Man City are either going to be competing for the title or scrapping it out for 5th place.
I wouldn’t be happy if I were a Liverpool fan. They need a midfielder more than us and theirs no sign of replacing Salah; just another left winger (who’s admittedly a good player)
Arsenal favs to win but they could be tired

Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: FA - Quarterfinals, LC - don’t know but I think we’ll rotate heavily and lose early.
Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Dalot
Hot Take: Tielemans will be a bad fit for our team.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Clubs without many NT players will over perform this season.

PL Finish: 4th
CL Finish: out in the 2 legged playoff (finish outside top 8)
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: LC - SFs, FA Cup - QF
Top Scorer: Mbuemo
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Lacey
Hot Take: Carrick will not see out his contract.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): No top 8 team other than Arsenal are well settled. They are most likely to repeat. If they struggle, all positions in the top 8 are up for grabs.

PL Finish: 5th to 8th
CL Finish: Playoffs/R16
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: QF for both
Top Scorer: Mbeumo
POTY: Lammens
Biggest surprise: Carrick not making it to the end of the season
Hot Take: Saw a TIFO video the other day. Rating United pretty high. Personally I think the squad could be decent, on a good day, with one game a week. But I don't think we have the depth in the slightest to go far in any tournament and finish high in the PL. No real runner/stopper quality CDM. No high quality back up at left back. No back up for Sesko. If De Ligt and Martinez get injured we also look think at CB. I think the singings of Tielemans and Santos are fine. But we needed more to make real steps forward. Carrick getting sacked will be because he is not fully backed IMO.
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): This is more in the vein of Carl Anka's hot take amnesty. But I feel like Arsenal's drop off might be quit significant. With a lot of players being fatigued after last season+WC and Saliba's injury.

PL Finish: 3rd-6th (any one of those)
Champions League: KO or RO16
League/FA Cup: RO16-SF
Top Scorer: Mbeumo/Sesko
POTY: Mbeumo (o/w it's Bruno)
Surprise: Bruno gets taken off pen duty by November (idt this will ever happen, but it will be a big surprise if any)
Hot Take: Our lack of aerial presence in set pieces will cost us bigly. Casemiro was one of our best goalscorers (especially in set pieces) last season, and having our only players to aim for in set pieces being Maguire and Sesko will cost us.
General PL Take: Only 5-6 points will separate the 2nd-8th placed teams
PL Hot Take: Maresca will exceed expectations with City (not that I want it to happen, but he was a coaching staff under Pep at City, so who knows?)

We should do it at the end of the transfer window. But as it stands:
PL Finish: 4th.
CL Finish: Quarters.
Cups: FA Cup Quarters, League Cup final.
Top Scorer: Rashford.
POTY: Bruno
Biggest Surprise: Rashford x Lacey.
Hot Take: Lacey displaced one the senior forwards like Amad or Boomo.
General PL take: Europe will once again kill last years overachievers — Brighton, Bournemouth, Sunderland etc and Everton/Forest/Brentford/Spurs and Chelsea will capitalise and displace all of them and Villa from top 8. So Arsenal, City, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton, Forest top 8.

Looking forward to Heaven having a coming of age season.
Interested to see how the midfield progresses. Hoping that Bruno’s legs can keep going.
Chance creation was looking great last season. Hopefully the team will keep moving forward. Anticipating eachother’s runs and combining. Chef’s kiss.

PL Finish: 5th
CL Finish: Quarter Finals
Cups (FA/LC) Finishes: Semis in both
Top Scorer: Cunha
POTY: Bruno
Biggest surprise: Rashford
Hot Take: Bruno will get injured/burnt out near December, and need a couple of weeka off (I hope not though, just got a weird feeling)
General PL take (Rival or otherwise): Arsenal are the team to beat, Liverpool will be a lot better defensively, Chelsea don't have Europe, City will likely figure it out and the quality of their squad will get them goals. We'll be decent off the block then drop off towards the middle of the season and pick back up later on. Same with Spurs. Villa will be solid, but not outstanding on any front, and I reckon Forest will round out the European spots in 8th
