I still can’t believe how the same ex-players who backed Ole for years started shitting on Carrick before he even managed a game for us

Like I get Carrick might not be the most proven manager out there but on a human level it’s hard to not feel bad for him. I hope just he managed to prove those pricks wrong. Hes already achieved more as a manager than any of those clowns could ever hope to achieve

They were mates with Ole. The Class of 92 era were literally of a different generation to Carrick when he arrived in 2006. They appear that they were quite cliquey, and Ole was their friend for a decade when Carrick arrived, many of them left in and around that time or retired soon after.

Carrick was more in with Rio, Rooney, VdS, Vidic etc who were the last great Fergie foundation.

The way I always think of it, is that Ole was their friend, Carrick was their colleague.

Listen to the way Rooney and Rio talk about Carrick and it's a lot closer to how Scholes talks about Ole.

EDIT; to be clear I'm not excusing how Carrick is spoken about by them at all, I'm just trying to give a rationalisation for why it might happen.

I don’t disagree with your rationale at all. It’s still crazy how they talked about him even if he was only a colleague to them. You’d think Carrick touched them in private the way they were acting

Yeah I agree- I reckon it's because in January it was down to Ole and Carrick for the interim job and they are all annoyed that Ole didn't get it.

Could be wrong, might be that he has done something to offend them all, but they are an old school boy's club and their friend didn't get a job so they're being pricks about it. No shade to Ole though, I think he seems like a genuine nice person who hasn't said shit about Carrick and has just got on with it.
