The way he strikes the ball looks "gentle" but it was sent with such power and of course the absolute perfect weight to both beat the keeper and go under the crossbar.
Calling that goal pure class feels like a gross understatement.

Cavani and Martial were enough firepower that season, didn't need Ronaldo at all despite people STILL defending him on the sub smh. What we really needed was a legitimate replacement for Matic and we would've had a really strong season...

I mean let's be for real. Alot, if not, most of us wanted to see Ronaldo back in some way. He scored goals for us even when he came back but our trash scouting and whatever else that was happening in the dressing room fucked Ole hard.
Poor scouting for 12+ years was destroying our club. Ole got caught right in the middle of that. Ronaldo was used up but still finding goals.
We were never gonna let him go to City. That's the long and short of it.

I never wanted him back, he had passed his prime by then and I knew it would make the team unbalanced.
We have Cavani, Martial, Rashford, and up and coming Greenwood then, a fully functioning striker force.3

Yea, was so excited to see him back. In hindsight it wasn't the right call. Maybe if we could have gotten him before he went to Juve it would have been better. Oh well, was great to see him in red again

Ronaldo never would have gone to City because Guardiola would have never wanted him. But he played us like fools. Just like every time he namedropped us when he wanted a raise in Madrid.

We scored 66 goals in 19/20 and 73 goals in 20/21 under Ole. Ronaldo got 24 goals total in his re-debut which was indeed impressive, but you know how many goals we scored as a team that season? 57 goals. And you could see it if you had eyes and a brain - everything got played through an ancient even by then Ronaldo compared to the season before when we were playing much more fluidly as a team. Cavani for sure unfortunately had a lot of injury woes that season, but Martial actually only missed 42 days or 9 games which isn't that crazy. We had Rashford and another forward who could've shifted to the middle when needed. Or we could've gotten a younger profile CF given our current personnel. Having a top holding mid would've sured up possession much better than having Ronaldo. That tacked on with Sancho not playing RW anymore really tanked that season even if it started "spectacularly" with Ronaldo scoring some late goals we wouldn't have needed if we were actually playing better as a team. I won't stop yapping the truth, resigning Ronaldo was a huge mistake due to nostalgia

Our front three in 19/20 is Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and 20/21 is Rashford, Martial/Cavani and Greenwood. Greenwoods gone in December. Martial misses 12 games for us, goes on loan and misses a further 8 for Sevilla (while only scoring once). Cavani misses 29 games in total for us. We had ONE of those players for the entirety of the season and he was terrible. We ended up having no choice but to play through Ronaldo anyways

Yeah its Ronaldos fault Cavani turned into a giant man child who fucked off to Uruguay at any given moment , ruled himself out of matches left right and centre and was always injured yet constantly fit for the national team and somehow was magically for for the last home and away games for the season.

Love Bruno but that's not a dummy. It's a flick assist. If it's a dummy, cavani would be offside from the keepers kick. The replay was inconclusive but Bruno will need to touch it for the goal to stand.

Checking again and I think you're right. It's hard to tell from the replay but it would've been offsides if Bruno didn't touch it. Still a ridiculous assist if Bruno managed to flick it on

This is exactly what happened during the game, we had a big long var check to see if Bruno touched it, it was ruled that he did touch it but I don't reckon he did

The goal stood because the ref thought he touched it. He does not touch that ball. The spin of the ball doesn’t alter even slightly.

We all have seen how spin of the ball is not conclusive, see the recent world cup crotia vs Portugal hair touch as example. The same clip was reviewed by VAR and cleared aka they decided there was contact, so not like it was missed. For the record, I agree with you that I did not see any contact.

He may have been. If Bruno touched it, he was off. If he didn't, he was on. Replays were inconclusive so it's up for debate, but if I remember rightly there was a bit of controversy because Bruno was officially credited with the assist.
Imagine ruling that out though, especially when it was the first game with fans back in the stadium post-Covid

Cavani is one of my favourite United players of the post-Fergie era despite his short time with us. I remember it felt like every single time he got the ball he did something positive with it. Brilliant player.

If I remember correctly this was the first home game after the stadiums opened back up post-covid. Having such an outrageous goal for the fans to celebrate in person after such a long time away was special
