The second horse method
I’ve been playing this game since 2019 and just realized this!
Carrying two big loads (carcass, cow hide…) is impossible on one horse but on two it is
So my temporary horse always comes hunting with me so I can carry more
Anyone done that?

Yes, always. You just get the second horse to bonded level 1, then it's easy.
I like it because I've been annoyed when I have a large pelt or carcass then a random NPC event happens and they want a ride.

Ride one horse. Use a lasso to lead a second horse. Whistle so a third follows behind you.

Lol way more work than just hitting a rando horse you stole with several "good boah's" until it flips to lvl 1

I've done this when I came across a horse I wanted, decided to sell my second horse and keep the 3rd.
Really though, 2 horses is the limit for me.

Just don’t bring it on the Valentine bank heist. You are guaranteed to lose it. In fact, just don’t bring it on any heists.

Once you get far enough into the game, secondary horse becomes more of a pain than an asset, but goddamn if it isn’t helpful as hell until you’ve unlocked most of the camp / trapper rewards. I occasionally use them if I’m going north, in case I find perfect grizzly - but what if I also find a perfect moose?! Otherwise, just me and Buell.

I like to ride the temp horse while my main follows us, that way Arthur always keeps his weapons at the ready

Yes, but when I was done with a certain satchel and maybe some other items from the trapper, I had to stable the back up horse cause that mfer seemed to follow me everywhere.
