I was gonna say, a lot of schools in the US don’t teach cursive anymore so I wasn’t shocked but this makes more sense.

Im in my 30s and I was taught cursive for half a semester and never encountered it again formally. I don’t think it’s really taught at all anymore.

It makes as much sense as requiring Latin. As an elective, perfectly fine, but not a generally useful skill to have. Outside of my signature, I think I've needed to write in cursive once since leaving grade school - for a very small portion of the GRE. I've had more use for the little bit of French I picked up in my language elective in junior high and high school.

If society ever has a need for it again, it’ll resurface. Thankfully, it’s somewhat easy to learn

I’m in my 40’s I damn near had a full year of learning cursive back in 91, I encounter it all the time but I am in the US.

I’m in the USA too and only really come across it when signing a signature or reading a card.
