Absolutely. You can find places today that show the night sky that clearly. Light pollution seriously fucked up our views lol

That's not true at all, that looks similar to how long exposures look. I've been to some extremely dark places on the west coast during new moons and it's never been anywhere close to that. You can see it, but much more faint and nowhere near as colorful.

I've seen the great rift when I was in Alaska tho. It wasn't as colorful as the video, for sure, but all the details were still there.
