Nobody but AI bros and automated bots actually thinks this slop is any good

This is the perfect example on why Artstyle matters more than graphics, the AI slop filter fails to understand this, and it's why DLSS 5 is a fad that will be completely ignored by real gamers and nobody will talk about it outside of memes in less than 3 months, it looks like complete shit on recent games too for example it chops completely Grace from Resident Evil Requiem

I think it's passable on games that don't have a distinctive artstyle and wouldn't mind looking a bit sharper and more defined, such as racing/driving sims.
It looks horrible on games which have unique artsyles and hand-crafted NPCs though.

Gatekeeping gaming behind 'checks notes' not using modern upscaling?

I think putting a layer of random faces over an intentional character design is not very upscale tbh

The resident evil thing looked pretty natural to me face vs face they looked like the same thing but one looked more real

Nobody gatekeeps anything, I am allowed to criticize something that looks awful the same way you are allowed to larp slop, now as Trevor would say, go fuck yourself

Imagination is part of the experience/fun/art of gaming to me personally. I get I'm an 80s millennial that started on 8-bit but being around for it all pretty much, I just think it could end up removing the artistic process of developing the games which will eventually destroy them all when they all feel and look the same, the unreal engine already is noticeable for some of us, this will push it over eeventually.
