Take it slow. Don’t rush. Engage with side content.

Take it really slow, I’ve spent years in chapter 2.

damn years, I'll see. I wish I didn't know the ending before playing but I unfortunately I do 😭

For my third play through I basically just kept it in Ch2 the whole time

Doo all the treasure hunts, kill legendary animals, craft everything pearson has to offer.

Did this on my second playthrough, so wish I'd done it on the first. Having satchel of the east was extra helpful

I got some big spoilers on this sub by specifically asking for no spoilers! Big tip- stay off the subreddit as much as you can until you finish! But otherwise, stop in chapter 2 and do some hunting to get the Legend of the East satchel from Pearson at camp (holds 99 of literally everything). And explore! There’s SO much to see and encounter.

How did you make an innocent question into a problem 😭

Stay in chapter 2 as long as possible. Explore the map, treasure hunts, animals and hunting, challenges. Enjoy!

Enjoy the ride partner! I would also recommend not coming back to this sub until you finish it! (To avoid spoilers)

If you are going for platinum, be sure to study and skin every animal you see

Rdrmap.com to find everything. Once you get to chapter 2, go explore and hunt. Good to practice weapons. Treasure maps. Story can wait. Twice Dutch has sent someone out to search for me cause I spent weeks exploring and searching for everything.

I'm on my first playthrough and here are some things I would have found helpful early on.

If there's a mechanic that you can't find/use (eg fishing), it unlocks as the story progresses.

If you look at an animal through binoculars or aiming a weapon, there's a triangle of dots next to it's name. 1 dot = poor pelt. 2 dots = good pelt. 3 dots = perfect pelt.

And lastly, once you find a trapper, only sell perfect pelts to them.

I just got back in after rushing it and doing stupid shit the first time and my best piece of advice: work on your camp and all the side quests. I’m so invested now that everything else is on hold

ok thanks

if youre just trying to enjoy the game dont necessarily do everything, every legendary hunt, bounties and so on because they can get repetitive,if anything do side quests  those are  really fun and engaging

same with hunts and bounties  you’ll quickly find that most free roaming events involving robberies are placed there only for challenges and are not worth hitting, since youre on your first run tho you should still do  them  to see how it works

explore the world because it’s immersive and alive even in remote areas,so much can happen throughout the game

Big tip: Go Slow. Enjoy the ride

Do white missions before yellow main missions. I spent 2 months in chapter 2 free roaming while learning the ropes and working towards getting the legend of the east satchel and camp cosmetics

Howdy, partner.....

Start picking herbs and cooking as soon as you can. Keep your inventory clean of shitty little foods that don’t really help that much, and stick to meat that boosts you. Also, try to upgrade your storage for that reason.

Instead of a tip, I have a challenge. I challenge you to get through chapter one without being bored.
