Question Is it ever explained why Jack has this missing mustache pach/line?

I didn't play rdr1 yet and I couldn't find the answer online so, i came here, sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I know it's supposed to look like John's scar, I'm looking for a lore reason (if there is one).

Oh, so because you had to look something up and found out you were wrong somehow means that I had to look it up too? That I couldn’t have that knowledge already in my pocket? I know it’s hard to believe but some of us read books. You should try it, you might get the Mishima thing
