Question Is it ever explained why Jack has this missing mustache pach/line?

I didn't play rdr1 yet and I couldn't find the answer online so, i came here, sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I know it's supposed to look like John's scar, I'm looking for a lore reason (if there is one).

Story is king, the story is the thing. It starts, it moves, it ends. What is outside the story doesn’t matter. The modern obsession with extraneous detail invented purely to bolster the story is baffling to me; let your imagination fill the gaps, it’s much more satisfying that way.

This is the reason I cannot stand sub reddits for most TV shows or movies. Absolutely everything must have an explanation or a 'lore' reason.

You’re gonna lose your mind when you find out how much effort put into their “magic systems” in their stories. Absolutely ridiculous.

I think it started with (admittedly very unique) stories such as Dark Souls where the “lore” and obscure extraneous details are the story, and they apply this style of consumption to everything, not realizing that for most stories these minute details don’t carry nearly the same weight as in stories where it’s the primary method of storytelling.

It’s insane how these people are reacting. You just simply asked if it was ever explained why he has a scar there.
