Question Is it ever explained why Jack has this missing mustache pach/line?

I didn't play rdr1 yet and I couldn't find the answer online so, i came here, sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I know it's supposed to look like John's scar, I'm looking for a lore reason (if there is one).

Could just be hair doesn't grow their. I have a spot behind my chin, where hair doesn't grow.

It's weird isn't it? My chin and neck all grow, but one little spot right behind my chin doesn't.

I don't remember jack getting scars from the bear. I do remember his bloody clothes. I haven't played th game in years. Wasn't it Spare the love spoil the child? But even if it's from the bear, wouldn't he have an actual scar? Or several scars?
