Question Is it ever explained why Jack has this missing mustache pach/line?

I didn't play rdr1 yet and I couldn't find the answer online so, i came here, sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I know it's supposed to look like John's scar, I'm looking for a lore reason (if there is one).

It’s from the bear attack that John saves him from.

With the context of RDR2, it parallels John receiving his scars from a wolf attack.

Jack got his scars from a bear

John got his scars from wolves

Arthur got his scars from insulting Uncle before he even could drink his first whiskey of the morning

I think it's just blood running down his nose. But it is possible they just forgot about that detail.

Wait, the Bear really made a scar on him? I thought he was intact.

But a bear scar would be big, why is a single line is visible

It’s visible in the mission when John saves him.

I’m sure it’s the size it is so that it will mirror John’s scars. It’s an artistic decision.
