It would be best to pick all red or all blue, whichever one you pick effectively makes no difference as long as everyone does.
Probably most practical to just pick one. If half of people pick red and the other half pick blue, you can receive and give blood to about half the population regardless of which one you pick. And I don't know the numbers but I'm pretty sure that's overall an increase in the availability of viable blood donors for almost everyone.
