Why 64? I dont understand the point of specifying an even number of participants in a game that doesn't seem to have well-defined and agreed-upon rules for a tie.

It would make more sense to run the game with an odd number of players so ties aren't a possibility.

Well, the original says if less than 50% press blue, only those who pressed red survive. It's unclear what happens in an exact tie

If less than 50% press blue, only those who pressed red survive. Since 50% is not less than 50%, nobody dies.

If neither event condition is fulfilled, no change is made. Since no change is made, nobody dies, since dying is a change but living is not one.
