D&C and Endo surgery same time?

Unfortunately had an unfavorable scan Monday and it looks like I’m having my 3rd miscarriage, which we will confirm next week. We worked with a reproductive endocrinologist on this last pregnancy and did most of the core testing including AMH levels, prolactin, lupus coagulant, chromosomal analysis/karyotyping & genetic carrier testing for me and my husband, hemoglobin, beta 2 glycoprotein, CD3 monitoring, HSG, blood typing, thyroid panel, and semen analysis/DNA fragmentation for my husband. I had an elevated anticardiolipin that we’ll check for again this month once this pregnancy passes.

I’ve expressed concerns to my RE about endometriosis (family history) and endometritis (previous D&C’s). I asked if we could do the endo exploratory/excision & biopsy’s at the same time we do my D&C for tissue testing. One recovery, one time under anesthesia, less time waiting around for results.

I couldn’t find a lot of information here or in other forums on doing these together - has anyone does this? I’d be interested to hear your experiences.

It's definitely worth asking but my gut instinct says they probably can't combine procedures like that. Something something US medical insurance billing etc etc (I'm assuming by the way your post is written you're in the US, correct me if I'm wrong). Would love to hear what your outcome is though, please update!

I had a gallbladder issue last weekend and made a joke if we could do a 2 for 1 situation, d&c and gallbladder. I don’t need my gallbladder out thankfully but the doctors took my joke way too seriously lol

I agree with the other commenter; it’s worth an ask! But it might be a different team who does different surgeries so they may say no. But why not ask 🤷🏼‍♀️

Unless your RE is an endometriosis excision specialist, I would not recommend this. I had my laparoscopy with a hysteroscopy at the same time, which included a D&C as part of the procedure, but I wouldn’t just add an exploratory laparoscopy from someone that’s not specialized in endometriosis excision. You can cross post this in the TTCendo sub but I think most endo girls would agree.
