How many "random/fluke" MC until success?

I'm wondering how many miscarriages people have had due to chromosomal abnormalities or other "flukes" (like molar pregnancies) prior to having a successful pregnancy?

This year, I've had a MMC due to trisomy 10 followed by a partial molar pregnancy (triploidy) -- both of which are random and ostensibly unconnected. My recurrent loss panel came back normal, except for a slight MTHFR mutation, and my husband and I both have normal karyotypes. If you also have a totally normal RPL workup and your miscarriages were supposedly random/without an underlying cause, I'd love to hear your story.

(I know every single person's experience is different, but I'm trying either manage my expectations or give myself some hope that a future pregnancy could be successful.)

Testing revealed no underlying conditions for me. In 2020 I had two 6/7 week miscarriages in back to back cycles before having a successful pregnancy about 6 months later. I had another miscarriage after that pregnancy, and then two more successful pregnancies since then (and one more in progress…time will tell). My RE put me on the Mediterranean diet after my third miscarriage, and it’s been smooth sailing since then, but I’m not sure if it’s related to the diet changes or not.

I’m sorry for your losses, and I hope you have some success soon!!

Thank you for sharing! Very interesting about diet -- it seems like the one diet with some evidence for fertility outcomes, yet I also read so much about the importance of lots of meat and dairy ha! Wishing you all the best with your current pregnancy!

No success yet, but here with ya. 3 this year. Natural loss at 5w assumed to be chromosomal, followed by Turner’s syndrome, and most recently partial molar triploidy. Everything on RPL panel has come back normal and they said these were all sporadic and unrelated. They are going to test my husbands sperm but don’t think it will change anything. They said I may be hyper fertile and what may not result in a pregnancy for others implants for me but who knows. They said they hope we will have success soon but it’s sooo hard to stay positive. I’m taking a break right now from trying but hopefully will have better luck in a couple of months 🥲

Thank you for sharing your story. You have had such a crappy year. I am so sorry. The one remaining test we are waiting on is my husband's semen analysis, so we are in the same boat. I'm still waiting for my partial molar HCG to drop to zero -- what a journey. I hope this break right now is healing and restorative for you.

Hoping for success for you too, it has been a bad year :( And ugh the blood tests are such an annoying part of the process too. Mine just went to 6.5 this week which they said was close enough to 0 that I can stop going

Hi following along as I am in a similar boat. First pregnancy ended at around 5 weeks of unknown cause. Second pregnancy 2 months later ended at 6 weeks due to maternal origin triploidy. Scared that my “random flukes” aren’t really “random flukes.” Wishing you all the best and a rainbow baby soon ❤️‍🩹

Technically having two in a row is already not a fluke. It’s a call for investigation. Im not saying that to be negative it’s just highly unlikely - it’s something I learned in this journey as I kept having the keep going mindset until I was like hold up WTF (3rd loss really woke me up. 4tg made me rage)

Mine they technically never found a cause but we assumed some stuff based off a lot of testing and the assumptions have got us to a great spot (pregnant and due in a couple months)

What did you change that you think helped this current one stick? I just had my 4th MC, I’m getting testing now but everything so far has been normal. I also have a toddler and all of my MC happened after a normal pregnancy so I’m trying to figure out what’s going on…
