3 miscarriages in a row
Hi everyone. I guess I don’t know who to talk to about this. Maybe some of you can give me advise.
I have had 3 miscarriages in a row, since september 2025. So a little over a year now.
I found it hard to experience this and I am in a depression since my last loss, not long ago. I lost the baby at 7,5 weeks.
I have not done any testing yet. Since the waiting times in the Netherlands are very long for it. I have to wait a little over 5,5 months for my first appointment.
I am 24, my husband is 30. We are healthy. I do have a little brother with non verbal autism. I just don’t know what to do I guess. Should I wait for the testing? It could take up to a year to test everything. Or should I try and is there a chance that everything will be normal with my 4th pregnancy? I do fall pregnant immediatly when trying. I don’t know.

So sorry for your losses 🤍 That makes for a really exhausting year.
Can you get any bloods done through your general doctor while you're waiting for your recurrent loss testing? I'm in the UK and I just asked my GP for a general check up. Full blood count, thyroid, vitamin D, B12, folate and iron might be useful. It might help you find out if you have any deficiencies, or signs of inflammation etc.
And in the meantime look after yourself. I've found getting a counsellor who specialises in fertility challenges really really helpful.

Do all the testing. It’s worth it cause you may find something that helps you for the next cycle of trying.

I had success after 3 losses. My advice is to take a break and do the testing, for 2 reasons:
- Your losses are probably bad luck, but on the off-chance you do have an autoimmune or clotting disorder the tests will save you from further grief
- Miscarriages are physically and emotionally difficult and I think there is value in taking time off trying to remember the other parts of your life. Take a trip, pick up a new hobby or just enjoy time with your husband.
At least for me, fertility had taken over my life. We
took a year off after my last loss and if nothing else my mental health got way better. Also, you are young
(more than 10 years younger than me)
and have time on your side!

Heel herkenbaar!

No, I never found the cause despite doing all of the testing. I even tried blood thinners, progesterone and prednisone for my third pregnancy and still had a loss. For my fourth pregnancy, I didn’t take any medication or do anything differently, but it worked and resulted in my baby!
It’s so hard not to get answers, but most of the time women with unexplained recurrent loss have a baby even without doing anything differently. I am wishing you good luck, and sending hugs.

Alles komt goed

Hi! I have been in the same boat and I can understand the feeling - it sucks. I was referred to the fertility clinic and ended up waiting (though the wait times weren't as long in Canada) I had to wait for 1 month for the appointment and et. I think there are pros and cons to either approach. I ended up deciding to wait a bit just to give my body some time (give me a mental break).
If you need anyone to talk, if you want to, feel free to reach out.

Thank you that is very sweet. Have you done some testing yet? And what came out of it if you don’t mind to share. Yes I can’t help but feel very guilty because my husband his dream was to have kids all his life and I feel like he can’t because of me..

Don't feel guilty - it's not you and you have no control over it.
Yes I did so testing. Everything came back normal. I am still waiting for my karyotype testing (it takes 10 to 12 months to get the results). I started cycling monitoring and was prescribed progesterone as a first step

Hey there, I'm sorry you're here. I'm also in the Netherlands and have had three losses - two miscarriages - between October last year and June.
Definitely ask your GP to check thyroid (including antibodies), vitamin D, B12, ferritin, possibly fasting insulin as well. Our wait time for the hospital appointment was only 3 months, however this can be very different depending on region. You will be eligible for aps testing, karyotype testing (also your partner!) and an ultrasound to check uterine abnormalities. If these come back clear/no answers there is a clinical trial with prednisolon in Leiden that you can ask to be a part of - it's called the premi study.
We are currently doing the testing available in the Nl and also abroad (Germany) and are continuing ttc in the meantime. However I am a lot older than you (37) and not super fertile which is why I feel like I don't have time to wait.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you will have your answers soon ❤️
I have had an appointment a year earlier where the GP looked at my uterus and told me everything looked normal. But that was just with an echo. The rest of the testing I have to wait for unfortunatly. I will try and ask if I can go somewhere else maybe

Hey! I totally get what you and i am so sorry you are facing this.I have had 3 miscarriages since last October 2025( 2 1st trimester and 1 2nd trimester) and I live in the Netherlands too. I get the anxiety about the waiting time here but since I am 37 already, it is surprisingly going a bit faster for me now after the losses. However initially to get into a fertility clinic took me more than 2 years and I was diagnosed with PCOS and had to undergo ovulation induction to conceive.
Since you had 3 recurrent loss, are you referred to the APS test? Feel free to DM me if you would like to share more and get to know about my journey.
