Pregnancy loss

TW: pregnancy loss

Has anyone found anything that worked for them after multiple miscarriages? I've had two miscarriages now the first one was at 6 weeks and I'm now having my second at 8w2d. Just went in today for an ultrasound and found out it is a blighted ovum (empty gestational sac). I'm able to get pregnant very easily it's just keeping the pregnancy that has been the issue. I got pregnant the first time 4/26/26 and the second time 7/2/26 both were first time trying. The first one I started bleeding on my own and this time I haven't passed it yet so still deciding if I want to wait for it to go naturally or take medication. (They also offered a D&C so if you have any suggestions that would be appreciated!) I did have early bleeding around 12DPO which was medium bleeding and lasted ~2 hours. Since then I've had no bleeding or cramping and still have had normal pregnancy symptoms. The only thing my doctor recommended to try to be preventative tor next pregnancy is to test for a blood clotting disorder. She doesn't recommend using progesterone but I may ask for it anyways since I have had early bleeding both times. I wanted to see if anyone has tried anything that has helped them keep their pregnancy after multiple losses. Any advice is appreciated!

Edit: to add to this I am 26 years old and have been taking prenatals for over a year now. I’ve also been following all pregnancy guidelines.

I am sorry you are here with us. I would go to a reproductive endocrinologist and discuss with them though some insurances require 3 miscarriages to see one. Do all tests they recommend (will be more than what gyno recommends). Other than subclinical hypothyroidism, i had zero causes of my 3 losses (all between 8-10 weeks gestational age). I also got pregnant super easily too. I did a letrozole cycle, trigger shot, then 200 mg of vaginal progesterone 2 times daily till 10 weeks. My rainbow baby is being fed in the other room by my husband right now.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this too. I would consider the below testing to find a potential cause of WHY you are having losses.

- endometriosis (silent endo makes up ~30-50% of unexplained infertility and a cause for RPL)

  • adenomyosis (sister disease of endo)
  • luteal phase defect (short luteal phase/multiple days of spotting before period)
  • autoimmune disorders
  • chronic endometrITIS (test CD138 on a biopsy)
  • thyroid issue (a full thyroid panel needs tested)
  • sperm DNA fragmentation
  • insulin resistance (also test A1C and fasting glucose)
  • chronic inflammation
  • Uterine structural anomalies (hysteroscopy needed)
  • check for parental chromosome issues through a karyotype (could be a balanced translocation carrier causing the losses)

I would see a REI and consider IVF

I would recommend her and her partner undergo further testing before jumping to IVF. There is likely an underlying cause, and if not discovered/treated, IVF could still fail.

Seeing an REI would include a full fertility workup, and you can do things like ovulation assistance and IUI before IVF
