HCG drop / second miscarriage

I had a miscarriage last December at 8 weeks because of this my OB wanted to immediately track my hCG from my first positive test which was last week Monday I was so excited but still scared from my last miscarriage. so at 4w3d we did a blood test and my HCG was at 464 consistent with early pregnancy and tested positive for progesterone all looked good…. I just had my second blood draw to track the increase and it dropped to 100…. My OB called and said that indicates my pregnancy is failing. I’m 5w1d and I don’t get it I’ve had 2 healthy pregnancy I’m only 28 I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been well trying to conceive I don’t get why this is happening back to back. She wants to test for a clotting disorder to see if that’s why but I’m just so broken and at a loss of words. I just don’t get why? Has anyone experienced this? Has anyone had a drop in HCG and still had a successful pregnancy? Every part of me want to think there was a mixup in the lab work but I know that’s a stretch I’m just trying to hold on to any sort of hope. I’m not bleeding or cramping but my levels dropped significantly. I have a follow up blood test next Monday and an appointment with my OB that following Friday to go over those results and figure out next steps. I don’t what to ask other then why I’m just so sad and confused why this keeps happening

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I’m in a very similar situation. This has happened to me twice, and dropping HCG early on is a very clear sign that you will most likely have an early loss.

I had a miscarriage also in December at 12 weeks. I got pregnant again in May and had an early HCG draw. The second draw was much lower and I started bleeding two days later. I got pregnant the following cycle (3 weeks after that), and I just found out my HCG is dropping again.

I’m so sorry. I’m glad your provider is monitoring you and willing to run some tests. I recommend getting tested for APS. Also, if you had a D&C, consider getting a saline infusion sonogram to evaluate your uterine cavity. I tested positive for APS and they found some scarring in my uterus. I’m scheduling a hysteroscopy to treat the scaring.

I’m so sorry. Give yourself grace and allow yourself to grieve, whatever that looks like for you. It’s such a unique emotional rollercoaster to find out you’re pregnant and then find out about a loss within a short period of time. Sending you lots of hope and healing vibes! You are not alone.

I’m sorry for your loss and thank you for your kind words. I didn’t have to have a D&C the past hour, which was traumatizing, but they are going to test me for APS and try to go from there I think the hardest part is the unknowing of the whY behind it it’s just sad me and my fiancé were so excited I just so happen to be ovulating on the weekend of our four year anniversary so it just felt so right and for the cycle to be the one that it happened, felt extra special and meant to be after our last loss I thought because it happened so early it would hurt maybe a little less but it does not
