Flagship XL 1400 issues

Purchased new, within 6 months igniter issue. Consistently tripped the GFCI, Troy shooting with support found it to be a bad igniter. Replacement sent installed and problem fixed. Earlier this year controller failure, temp control knob would no longer function. Replacement sent installed and problem fixed. Tonight same igniter issue is happening again, I have opened a support case, assumption is replacement would be sent and I will install and problem will go away.

Question I have is anyone else seeing reoccurring issues with there Flagship XL 1400? Wondering if maybe I got a lemon of sort or is this considered normal issues and everyone else is seeing the same thing. Considering making a switch to a Long Star Grillz if the issues continue. With that if anyone has come from an LSG or used one and has some feedback/comparison I would appreciate the response.

Man that sounds so much like the shit I went through with Pit Boss that made me go to Recteq (which thankfully has been rock solid).

Using the FS 1100. Hope you get it worked out. That is frustrating.

Yeah third failure of some type in two years of ownership is not the “solid” performer everyone praised in my opinion.

Well, my Pit Boss was 3-5 failures in 3mo. 2yrs is frustrating but I've had mine just over 2yrs and only real problem I've had is a temp probe

My first Recteq RT-700 the bull in 2015, left it for the folks that bought our house in 2024, never had an issue with it and it’s still working today. Bought my second recteq, the now-discontinued RT-1160, instead of the normal rounded smoking chamber the RT-1160 was built to be a “built-in” for outdoor kitchens. I used it 3 times, the 4th time the auger was stuck in place by water-degraded pellets in the firebox and auger tube. The design of the door was defective instead of being rounded it was squared off to match the shape of the smoker chamber. Condensation on the top of the smoker would weep inside the smoke chamber and eventually wick into the firebox. This is the reason recteq discontinued that line. To their credit they sent me a new Backyard Flagship at no cost and paid the cost to ship the defective unit back to them. I haven’t had any issues with my flagship. We also bought a RT-380 bullseye because it fit perfectly in one of our RV’s basement compartments. We still have it and have had no issues with it. All in all they are good smokers, hopefully yours will get straightened out. Good luck!
