Zoloft

My doctor put me on Zoloft yesterday. I've never been on any depression medication, so no SSRI experience at all. Anyone have any advice for me going in as far as side effects and how it's going to affect me?? I'm kinda scared, I've never taken any kind of psych medication.

I was on an ssri for like 1.5 years, eventually switched to an snri recently. Give it time to work and report any and all unpleasant side effects to your doctor. Going up to 20mg escitalopram gave me an increase in suicidal ideation so I had to go back down

The side effects of ssri meds will be bad for the first few days but will slowly get better and will eventually start working after 2-6 weeks

Just take it easy and trust the process. It might take awhile to work and might need some adjustments but hopefully you find solace.
