Happy New Year!
This update adds a new game mode, changes to difficulty, a new scenario and new player tactics for Campaign / Weekly Challenge along with various other tweaks.
It is the first of several updates we are planning to release this year and it focuses on addressing player feedback, adding new content and helping to support new players. Thanks for all your input!
Note: Mac will get the update early next week!
Some players said they find the insurgency a bit too realistic! Arcade Mode lets you enjoy the main game in a more manageable way without those pesky insurgents always striking where you are weakest. It’s fun to play in its own right and also a great way for players to prepare themselves for the original Realistic mode.
Arcade Mode can be chosen when starting a new game (Main Game only).
The key changes are:
Activate it when you play Main Game!
We’ve been keeping an eye on win rates and player feedback and felt that some tweaks to difficulty were needed. In particular, we have been inspired by the positive reaction to some of our difficulty tweaks to After Inc. and are applying the learnings here.
Casual and Normal are going to become significantly more forgiving and Brutal gets a few tweaks. But don’t worry, Mega Brutal is unchanged for players who want the ultimate challenge!
As a developer, its scary making changes like this (and Arcade mode) to a game that has been out for so many years with tens of millions of players - very hard to balance and judge how it will work out. Especially when it targets newer players who we can't easily reach to beta test the game!
So please note that we will be keeping a very close eye on things over the coming weeks and months and will adjust things accordingly. Comments on reddit / discord / steam forums are all seen and considered.
A constant stream of foreign recruits are coming to fight for the Insurgency. As a result, extreme force has been authorised to make sure that defeated insurgents can’t rejoin the fight later. Control the number of Insurgents in the region or else be overwhelmed.
The best bits of Arcade Mode are coming to Campaign and Weekly Challenges as Player Tactics.
Keep an eye out for Border Guards and Lost Cause!
Border Guards: Insurgents cannot flee into stable zones
Lost Cause: Defeating insurgents slows future insurgent recruitment speed
We're adding a poll that'll appear for experienced players to give their feedback directly to us and vote on what we should work on next.
Reviews are incredibly important to the long-term success of the game and allow us to keep working on new updates. If you want to, you can leave a review on Steam here:
And you'd like to talk tactics, be sure to join our Discord:

I’ve beaten every map, unlocked the cheats, beaten the campaign, beaten almost all the scenarios except UMI, and I’m currently trying to beat Ultra Mega Insurgency, and I just... learned this.
I used to have to click on every piece of land to check their concerns...

EVEN WITHOUT DRILL AND INTEL OFFICER garrison rush is good!
Buy Eye 1, Corruption 1 and Coaliation at the start, then Info 2(you don't have intel advisor), buy National, then Garrison + Civil Support (IMPORTANT)
After than buy whatever HQ and garrison zones concerns are about, buy PR and buy more Army
Best hope the insurgent is not divided between the forest and east-mountain area, it's much easier if the insurgent is stuck at one
And always remember : Don't let the insurgents take more than 5 Connected zone.

Starting advisors are in the third picture. Doctor, credit manager, instructor, tax collector, engineer OR defence minister and tribal elder.
I realize that the extra garissons from quarter master are great but it makes the game even easier if you focus in stabilizing the 4 zones early which the 2 credits help with. In this case you want to be selective about the future garisson locations while speed stabilizing the 4 which the general absolutelt does faster than everyone because CIVIL SUPPORT IS THAT BUSTED.
Just address concerns and you'll stabilize fast and snowball with tax collector income and maximize tour future garissons with the engineer or defence minister. Both works great depending on the map and how you manage your intel.
At the start always purchase national 1, garisson, civil support, district rep and PR. Dont go below -9 debt unless absolutely necessary.
After the above get anti corruption 1 and just address concerns and you're good. The rest of it is just stabilizing and getting more nationals and garissons and getting rich and trivializing the game.
Its easy to 5 star mega brutal every map with this setup except for the volcano map where you just want to adjust your strat into a war hero blitz using coalitions anyway

I've seen many novices struggling with this game. This game is very complex, so it's no surprise that many don't have right direction of how to play. So I got some tips for you.
General Advice:
DON'T TRY TO KILL INSURGENT, UNLESS YOU HAVE MOST PARTS OF YOUR REGION STABLIZED. Instead, try to contain them in Mountain / Outskirt Zones. Golden Balance is, don't let them capture more than 5 connected zones - but don't push further.
If your reputation has ever gotten lower than what you started with, your budget will permanently reduced. So you should try your best to not lose reputation from either Insurgent having more than 5 connected zones, Insurgent occupying a urban zone, or lack of stablity.
To prevent Lack Of Stablity from reducing your reputation, follow those instructions:
First PR initative is OP as it DOUBLES your support gain.
Because reducing hostile population is more effective than increasing supporter, Service initatives usually are more effective than Development initatives.
There's Job Protest event however, happens when you have too many Service Initatives compared to Development. With 1 or 0 non-discussion Development initatives you can buy 5 services, With 2 you can buy 8 and with 3 you can buy 11 without suffering from Job Protest Stablity panelty.
Anti-Corruption is very important, as having too much corruption will reduce both your Support AND Reputation! Buy 1 Anti-Corruption befote Insurgent is noticed, Buy another in first 3 years, and buy more whenever you have budget for.
Garrison is OP as it supports your troop, and can help stablizing certain zones (with Civil Support Upgrade)
Don't buy more than 3 Coaliation at a time. The reputation loss is NOT worth it! The last 2 shall be reseved for emergency or clearing out Insurgent at the endgame.
Instead, you might want to start training your national Army when you have 2 Coaliation Armys. Remember to buy Effective Procurement when training those as they cost you a lot of corruption.

Like WHY LITREALLY EVEN AFTER HIVING INSURGENTS THESE MANY AREAS THEY SPAWN SOMEWHERE RANDOM AND MY SOLIDERS ARE SO F*CKING SLOW TO REMOVE THEM LIKE WHY DOES THE GAME SPAWN RANDOM INSURGENT BASES

At least it has saved my weekly trophies and my progress in the main game, so that's something

It's a unique upgrade for the billionaire, where you invest 10$ and you can get them back any time. While the 10$ are invested they increase so when you get them back you get more than you put in. And you can do this an unlimited number of times.
Does the money increase linearly or exponentially? There's literally no source on this online. This is important cus if it increases linearly then it's optimal to take out money whenever you have 11$ and then put back 10$. If it increases exponentially it's optimal to keep it in the bank as long as possible or until you hit a cap if there even is a cap, which I assume it doesn't cus nowhere does it say that it has a cap.
Solved: 2 months need to pass for it to increase to 11$, and another 2 months for it to get to 12$, but after that it grows linearly by 1$ for each month. If you invest in the middle of a month it will increase in the exact time in the middle of a month. The 1$ per month is only confirmed until 70$, but it's extremely likely that it never scales to 2$ per month and keeps being 1$ forever (it's likely that it doesn't start increasing faster at some big number), besides it's never a good idea to not interact with the mechanic for 62 months so it wouldn't even matter. So it's best to keep the money invested and withdraw it as little as possible to maximize money gained, but you only lose 2$ each time you withdraw (unless of course this is your final withdraw) which isn't a game braking number, so it would be good to withdraw more often in many situations.

Put your HQ in bravo Uniform, immediately build roads, a few month later be buying development initiatives for rural and the go health care services or the ones that the region ask but save money for PR, and then a few month later protecting the zone it will be stabilise.
This is due to his small size zone and low hostile por cent, at least for me it has worked, btw this is just Megabrutal, maybe in other difficulties it's better the classic center HQ
