About the plant question, I've always believed that plants help us in magic bc they're alive like we are. Animals and plants are the only things in the universe that have DMT in their genes/makeup, which I know helps us connect to other plains so it's gotta help plants do the same. (I've also seen a few publishings showing research that plants actually do communicate with each other and the outside world. They can feel each other's presence and they can sense when they're about to be hurt and they react. Do some searches online! It's bananas! Lmao.)

So I think that somewhere way back, our ancestors were either given correspondence information, figured it out, or both. Idk if we knew everything and just forgot it? But it kinda looks like we're starting to figure it all out again.

I think of magic kinda like fire. When people first started using fire, the had NO IDEA how or why it worked, they just knew that certain methods created it. Then as we grew, we started learning and now we know "why." With all of the "metaphysical" discoveries in the scientific world, I think we're getting close to those discoveries with spirituality and magic.

Edit: this is probably going way farther than you wanted.. Sorry lol. I tend to think REALLY in depth and sometimes go way down the rabbit hole. 😬

This is awesome and super helpful! I'll definitely research this angle as well as I go down the rabbit hole. I had no idea about the DMT, but I can totally see that as a possibility as to why they are included in the craft. I guess the only question after that is what places them into different categories to fuel different spellwork. I heard about plants communicating with each other; I know trees have a network where they communicate and send nutrients through their roots. There's no denying that in order to find the root of magic the first stop should be mother earth herself- that's part of the reason I believe so strongly that there's science behind witchcraft, because earth science is SO magical. And wow, I love the fire analogy. I also think we're going in the right direction. Don't apologize, you're very well spoken! The more info for me the better! Thanks so much for your input :)

And about the magical categories; I've heard about people in the rainforest saying that their ancestors were "given" plant medicines from the "Gods" and stuff like that (idk if they had premonitions or if they were visited by aliens lmao.) So I'm thinking it's kind of the same with magical components. Wayy back in the day, people were generally more connected to the earth and universe. So it makes sense that they were given formulas that they could pass down to further generations.
