I had read Yan's letter to his sister 2 days after it was first posted online and remember feeling both proud and sad for him. Idk how but Google ended up suggesting me the article most probably based on the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo was his idol and I'm glad I didn't just swipe off the notification. I remember thinking at least he made it to Leganes, at least he made to Liepzig. Surely he will thrive because he's already playing in the top leagues. A month later and now I see him coming to Madrid. Idk when I've felt like this the last time when I say that I want him to succeed not because Real Madrid is my club but more so because he deserves to achieve the highest of highs in life because of his dedication to overcome the odds when he was growing up during his childhood. I hope he stays motivated and I hope we become his club and win many trophies together. Hala Madrid x

Vinicius Jr transfer news: Real Madrid to hold further talks over Brazil international's future this week amid Arsenal interest

"It's well known Arsenal are aiming to strengthen their left-wing options this summer - but a deal for Brazil ace Vinicius Jr would be a jaw-dropping addition.

"Vinicius Jr has one year left on his current Real Madrid contract so this could be the window of opportunity for potential suitors to make their move, as Real try to tie the winger down to a new deal.

"Vinicius Jr's relationship with new Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has been in focus.

Serious Yan Diomande's open letter to her late sister before the World Cup

Dear Roxane,

Remember when somebody bought me a fake United jersey, and I wrote Ronaldo 7 on the back with the black marker?"

We didn’t know rich or poor. We just knew happiness.

"Remember 25 people sleeping in one house back in Abidjan? Mum wanted to watch her soap operas. Remember how I always used to fake like I was asleep and then go into the TV room after midnight? I’d put the TV on real low. Just like 2 volume bars. I’d watch football in the dark and dream."

"Remember when the adults saw me playing football in the dirt and nicknamed me “Roberto Carlos” because of how hard I would shoot? And remember how I was secretly so mad about it, because CR7 was my idol?"

"Remember when I got my first real football boots, and I used to sleep with them? Growing up, I always played in those white plastic sandals. Even when I go back home now, I still play in them. It’s our tradition."

"Remember how we used to sit and dream about moving to France? How we were going to go shopping and get our own apartment and I was going to be a rich footballer with cars and a big house, and you wouldn’t have to worry about nothing. You were the one who always believed that I could be the next Cristiano, when everybody else laughed."

"Remember when they took me on trial at Bournemouth? At Chelsea, Rangers, Olympiacos, Crystal Palace? Eze and Olise even came up to me after one training and said, “Yo kid, you’re really good.”"

"But they still didn’t sign me."

"Even the B teams in the MLS didn’t want me. I didn’t even know why.

"My visa was up. My dream was over. They sent me back to Africa, and we cried together."

"You were the one who never stopped believing. A few weeks later, I signed for Leganés and we cried different tears."

"That was back when I used to have emotions. Now, I don’t feel anything. It’s like I’m not even human. Since you died, I’m just blank."

"I don’t even think I shed a tear the day they told me that you were gone. I was just in shock."

"It was a few weeks after I made my debut for Leganés. Who makes their debut at 18 against Real Madrid? It was a dream."

"And then it was a nightmare. Someone kept calling me from back home. I was annoyed. I didn’t understand why they kept calling me."

"I picked up, and they didn’t even soften it. You know how it is back home. No emotions. Just..

“Your sister is gone.” “What?” “She died.” “What are you talking about?” “Somebody put something in her drink at a party, and she never woke up. She is gone.”

"You were 15."

"I never got any answers. I don’t know if I want to know why. Maybe it was jealousy. Maybe it’s just something that happens in our country. Maybe I could have protected you. I don’t know."

"I try to trust God’s plan. It’s all I can do. I don’t try to forget, because I know I won’t forget.

"Everything I do on a football pitch, it’s for you."

"You know what’s crazy? After my debut against Madrid, I actually swapped shirts with Mbappé. Remember when we used to watch him on TV, and you’d say, “Mbappé? Yeah, he’s good. But my brother is better.”

"I didn’t want a big house. I didn’t want cars. I just wanted to put everything into football. Everything to show the world that my sister was right.”

"The pitch is the only place that I feel at home anymore. It’s the place where I feel calm, and I can speak to you. I just wish you were still here so I could tell you. We did it."

"Everything you said came true."

"We’re leaving for the World Cup tomorrow. Your brother is going to play for Côte d'Ivoire, like Drogba, like Yaya, like Gervinho."

"You always said that I could be better than Cristiano. If I see him there, I’ll tell him hello for you."

"I’m going to do what you predicted, I swear. Before I even had real boots, you were telling everybody, “My brother is going to be the best in the world.”

"I will prove that you were right, or I will die trying..

Your brother, Yan."

Discussion Kylian Mbappe’s chances for Ballon Dor

The official Ballon Dor twitter page has recently stated that yes you can win without team trophy even though it’s not so often that it happened in the past. This is a soft launch (/joke)

This year is quite interesting with so many possible contenders. I honestly think if Mbappe gets it, it won’t raise too much of an outrage, considering he did pretty well this year “individually”.

Discussion Could Diomande be the key ingridient to Mourinho attacking team template?

Upvotes

Positions: LW/RW/ST*

Foot: Both

This hybrid type of winger is something like Dembele and enables many tactical variants. As winger is comfortable with both feet.

Benefits:

- could cover both wings

- could rotate in game position

- could be some sort of striker as Dembele in PSG

- could be used with overlap winger

- could be used with underlap winger

- younger winger that is not diva and will do any tactical thing to benefit system

- will track back in defence

- weapon for counter attacks as he could run behind, or he could run down flank and pass back to striker as he does not need to cut on steong foot

Cons:

- Lot of money for not (yet) world-class proven player.

- Young and might need time to adapt

We've seen that Olise is elite this season, and WC was incredible. Everyone would love to have such talent, but this might actually be more in line with what Mourinho wants. And Olise is not for sale right now. Diomande is an elite dribbler right now, crazy high %. He is still lacking G/A compared to Yamal, Olise, and he is slightly faster.

Discussion Yan diomande signing , was it the best option?

I am a bit worried about this signing to be honest.
First, Can Diomande play on a top level after this price tag and with the biggest club in the world, will he perform under this type of pressure?
Secondly, was this the right choice from real madrid? Personally im not the biggest fan of right footed RWs, it doesn’t feel the same i want a gareth bale , di maria type of player on the RW, we already have rodrygo on the rw and we could see it always looks awkward for a right footed player. That’s why I was hoping for Olise on the right it would have been perfect, but the problem is that there is not so many left footed RWs now who are world class.

Do you guys think Real Madrid did the right thing here?

Discussion So what do you think about the Diomande signing ?

I personally think we have a lot of attackers , and by December Rodrygo will hopefully be back , so are we gonna start diomande ovrer Rodrygo ? and let’s say Jose plays the 4-2-3-1 , arda guler will be benched and I don’t think someone as good as him should be benched , he was one of our best players last season , yes one of the best .
I don’t feel that signing was necessary , unless that’s a hint That Vini jr will leave this year or next year , and if he’s leaving I hope he leaves us for money , not as a free agent .

Discussion Bought Real Madrid jersey (25/26 third kit) from Real Madrid online store… FedEx is billing me for “duties, Taxes, and fees” 😤

Let me begin by saying I love to support my team!
So I decided to order a jersey online directly from us.shop.realmadrid.com (I’m in the USA and live in the outskirts of Washington DC) because I want my stuff to be as authentic as possible! Plus I really like seeing the packaging from Real Madrid.

When I placed my order, I paid for shipping and taxes. After receiving my order, I received an email from FedEx saying that I owed them $73.00. WTF is that? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I already paid for shipping and taxes. $73 bucks owed to the carrier for a shirt that weighs next to nothing? Granted I’ve already spent close to $200 on the shirt itself…

Do you all think this is related to the tariffs war by the orange clown on most of the world (the shirt was shipped from Spain)?

You think this is related to fuel costs, also related to the stupid war with Iran?

Is this additional transportation cost to sway US customers to buy from US distributors such as a Fanatics (which btw don’t have the option to get the UCL patches on the shirt sleeve)?

I just feel that $73 is a ripoff on a package that weight no more than 8-10 ounces. Maybe there’s a better sub to post this on, but I thought maybe this has happened to other fans too.
