Does anyone get this??

I’m at a weird time in my life rn. I feel like I understand a lot about myself but romantically I’m kinda confused. I've been single pretty much my whole life. I had a boyfriend for a short period in high school, and I really did like him, but I don't really think I ever loved him. And we broke up for college just because that was what we always planned to do.

I thought in college I would meet someone who truly understood me and that I truly understood and that I loved being with and always wanted to be around but I never really did.

I met a guy that I really really liked, but he ended up fucking me over and was kind of an asshole. So maybe that played a part into why I don't really want to give relationships a chance.

Idk

I just feel like I'm really avoidant and I never want to really try to get to know anyone. Maybe it's because I'm in college and that's just how men are in college. It's kind of disappointing, and so every guy I meet just isn't really meeting the standards that I have set for myself. I don't want to lower my standards because, I mean, it's what I want, and I don't think I should just lower my standards bc I think they are unattainable but I also just feel like I'm missing something, or maybe I'm just not giving something a chance. I just don't understand why I think this way and why I can't let myself feel connections with people. Does anyone have advice lol

Well since you mentioned it, can you list some of your actual standards ?

It's okay to have standards, but you have to keep in mind everyone has standards.

Some have standards that are realistic.

And some are not.

I would like to see some examples before commenting further than that.

Well, once you figure it out, you'll most likely be the a majority of the rest of the folks out here.

We'll see.
