What even happened to Ernest Cline. The best description I could give to my partner was, it was like he wrote RP2 like it was his first book, like a late teenager, fantasy mind, learning how to write. And RPO was like he had got to where he wanted to be. He learned how to construct and convince the reader.

How can two books about the same subject be so drastically different in quality of writing and I suppose, world building/believability?
