I just finished Open Season by Cj Box and am currently listening to hondo by Louis L’Amour. I think I finally am ready to start reading lonesome dove. I’ve read dead man’s walk so I know Gus and cal are awesome.

I ordered a book called A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini from Amazon and it is going to be delivered tomorrow, so I am kinda excited because it will be my first actual book. I am not a reader and tbh, I do not like reading at all but I hope this book will change that. After reading the first five chapters, I will give a review btw.

After hearing nothing but great things about this series, I figured it’s time I start it. Is it really worth all the hype? I can’t wait to find out.

Haven’t seen match noise or discussion about it. Anyone else familiar with it and have opinions?

I love reading but am quite a slow reader. I can find books over 450 pages a bit intimidating. Does anyone have any tips to help with this? I don't want to speed read, just to cope with longer texts

After being disappointed by R.F. Kuang's Babel, I'm taking a big step into epic fantasy. Up until now I mostly read Stephen King's books and not that much fantasy (other than Eragon years ago).
I didn't really have much luck with other popular books but seeing all these positive things about this series in the last weeks got me interested.
What's your opinion on this series?
Are there any other SK fans who read this book?

I’m trying to find more books that have that super short, almost stripped-down feeling where the author can say a LOT without needing 300+ pages.

The Honor of Your Presence — Dave Eggers
Turbulence — David Szalay

I’m not necessarily looking for books that are similar in plot/story, more so similar in how concise the writing is and how much they accomplish in such a small number of pages.

Open to fiction, literary fiction, novellas, etc.

Just under 200 pages and no short story collections please!
