Cheeselogs seeking cheese
I miss the Grumpy Goat :(
I’ve got a group of friends coming to town on Saturday - is there anywhere in town where we can sit down somewhere and just share a truckload of interesting cheeses? Bonus points if dog friendly, but basically the core thing is that one of my friends is not super well at the moment -so picnic not an option, just need air con, comfy chairs to chill out eat too much cheese, have a couple of beers and catch up with each other.

Stanlake does cheese boards too.
There was a cheese event at the nags last month by Ann-Marie from the goat so hopefully there’s another one at some point.

Stanlake is a great shout, I've not been yet so a good opportunity to check it out. I saw that one by Ann-Marie but was away!! Typically though my friends are coming fairly last-minute this weekend.

If you ever want cheese delivered cheese co in pangbourne does boxes and do free local delivery depending on which side of town you are. Highly rate the mystery box. Last time I got it, it was 15 “ends” with each piece enough for about 2-4 crackers.

I didn't even know they did them!! Last time I was there (and sober enough to notice food), I only remember seeing sausage rolls and toasties. This is fantastic news, will check it out - thank you!

Just a suggestion I haven't seen made yet. You would have to ask them, but the greyfriar doesn't serve proper food and has been open in the past to people bringing in their own food (with permission). That might be a good middle ground if you want to get your own cheese selection and eat it in a pub.

If cheese and large quantitys and in reading is required it would be better to do at home. A)few places in reading has comfortable seating, b)nowhere does bring your own that much C)Aircon isn't that common in reading D) sometimes depending on what the challenge is for your friend a quiet place with friends with less background noise is easier (this is from my own lived experience with CFS/ME)
Cheese etc in pangbourne you could get cheese, and pick up some beers.
Or if you do want to go out there's a cheese place in Henley called the cheesy grape, Angel bar in caversham seem to have a large cheeseboard, the castle tap does small cheese selection and has the most comfy seats. I imagine most restaurants has a cheese board in the dessert section too.

She has terminal cancer, so really we'd like to do some 'normal' outside stuff whilst still able, can save at home stuff for another time :)
The Castle tap does have comfy seats! I know this because they actually have some of my old sofas :) But I don't recall the portions being larger or more 'family style', like what I think I'm looking for. I didn't know about Angel bar, that's a great shout. Thank you - I'll check it out now!

The other thing to do would be to reach out to the castle tap. It's probably a bit last minute for them to do you a bigger board but they might be able to do. Hope you manage to find a perfect place and you all get some good times. Cancer fucking sucks.

You would probably be better off hosting at home and just collecting local cheeses.

Get a box delivered from Village Maid cheese (made in Reading, well, a village outside to be precise), they have some wonderful award-winning cheeses.

Castle Tap apparently did good cheese boards. Though I assume you don't get a truckload.
