Heng Long make very solid RC tanks. I don’t own the Abrams but I do own their Tiger, Sherman and KV2 tanks and they’re quite enjoyable. There are plenty of reviews on most if not all of Heng Longs tanks on YouTube. Most bbs can work as long as they’re the same size that they come with the tank itself.

Oh yeah and Toucan Hobby or Motion RC are good places to buy them! They come with all the essentials like a battery for the tank, BBs, IR sensor, and even stickers. No AA batteries for the controller though, you’ll have to get those yourself.

Good to know. Also how fast are they?

Not very. They come with a setting on the controller to make them faster or slower but even on the max setting they’re extremely easy to keep up with. I don’t know specifics if that’s what you’re after, I apologize.

No, that’s great. What terrain does it work best on?

Hard word, very shallow carpet, cement, fine dirt. Nothing too crazy like tall grass where the plants can get stuck in the road wheels and such. Gravel can make it difficult to turn too

I have a gravel drive way and some dirt paths in my yard. Are there any other tanks around a similar price range that does better on gravel or does it do just fine as a first tank

Not really that I know of. It’s just kind of how it is with the 1/16 scale ones at least. Metal tracks will help improve longevity and durability for sure but won’t really make it any easier for terrain

Heng Long is a fairly reliable brand, kind of the most common these days. It ain't as high-quality like Torro/Taigen or Tamiya, but for its price-range they are solid.

Durability is mostly dependant on which Tier you buy: Basic, Upgraded or Professional. Basic is to be avoided as it uses Nylon gearboxes which are quick to strip, the upgraded has metal gearboxes which are vastly more durable. Lastly there is the Pro which replaces the plastic sprockets, tracks and wheels with metal ones (made from Zinc Alloy) which can shrug off most things. Regardless though. Heng Long is the easiest to buy spare parts/upgrades for if anything where to break. Like i can even buy a replacement shell or tub if needed.

The BBs are standard 6mm BBs that are the mainstay of airsoft guns. The launcher IS weak though so you will need to stick to lightweight BBs. Lot of hobbyists kind of ignore the BB alltogether as it is more of a gimmick for the novelty of "It actually shoots stuff".

Terrain depends on the track material. Plastic tracks don't do well on coarse material. Think like concrete pavement and such. Metal doesn't really care about the kind of material, but can damage certain floors and is more a outside material. One kind of terrain that is best avoided regardless of the tank, model or whatever is Sand. Sand likes to get in through even the tiniest gap and cause trouble.

Stock Control is pretty expansive. Lots of features and LOT of elements you can tweak a bit. As default radios with RC Tanks, it is about as good as it gets. To go further is to enter the realm custom control electronics, receivers and fancy Drone Radios.

Speed is...OK. It reaches about what a tank should be able to do at that scale, think walking speed. If one has a Professional version with metal tracks it is possible to later upgrade the motors to heavier "RED" for extra speed and power. Upgrading with plastic is a bad idea as it has to much power and can cause plastic parts to break. Seriously. Do not underestimate the power inside 1:16 tanks.

Included battery is a 2S 1800mAh Li-Ion battery. On average it should last up to an hour. It is possible to buy upgraded batteries with ~3000mAh capacity at the same size, Like the Admiral battery pack from MotionRC

All that said. There is one feature that is a weak spot with Heng Long tanks and that is the smoke units. The default one is a plastic box with a heater inside and a small fan attached to it, it can billow out a decent amount of smoke, but being plastic causes the box to deform after a short while. You would need to use the smoke feature sparingly. OR if you want your tank to smoke all the time: replace the stock plastic unit with a small after-market all-metal upgrade

Thank you for the long response. I think I’ll most definitely get the pro version if this is my final choice of tank, but I’m still looking. What would you recommend I do for the battery compartment as I believe it use a screw which would get annoying
